DocM Posted July 17, 2011 Share Posted July 17, 2011 Last Friday President Obama called the crews of the Shuttle Atlantis and the International Space Station from the Oval Office. During his call to the ISS crew he mentioned that a very special American flag was on board Atlantis - a flag that had previously been carried aboard Columbia during STS-1, the first Shuttle flight. This flag will be left on board the ISS until the next NASA crew is launched from US soil aboard a commercial spacecraft. President Obama joked that this is going to become sort of a "capture the flag" game for the commercial spaceflight industry.
