In Contact email support

Question

Hello,

Im trying to set up my mums In Contact for her business. Basically she needs to be able to send emails to signed up members (around 300) to them about her service, products etc..

Im having a few problems though.

My mum Internet provider is virgin media. Im setting up my own SMTP server on it (is this correct to?) using a virgin media guide. I believe the Outgoing e-mail server (SMTP) is smtp.virginmedia.com which is what ive used. I then ticked 'Outgoing server requires authentication' and entered mums username and password. I also change the port to '465'

I try to send a test email to my own gmail email. I press send and it gets to about 30-45 sec elapse time before returning saying its unable to send. This is what the log says...

Delivery Begin Time: 11:8:11

Delivery End Time: 11:9:2

Mail Message Format:

HTML

Subject: Gemstone Joy Bridal Jewellery

Total

Sent: 0

Total Failed: 2

Settings: SMTP

Can anyone aid me to how to get this working? Its important to get this working as it need to be sent to customer

Thanks

Hi there,

You probably don't want to setup your own SMTP server but use the SMTP details provided to you by Virgin Media. Reason for this is otherwise every man and his dog will think you are a spammer and block your messages - which isn't good for business. Could you provide any more details or screenshots of the settings that you have in the software, or provide some more information on the error that comes back from the software when you attempt to send the messages through it? The details given just indicate some generic error and I'm afraid I can't give much assistance on specifics without having something more to work with.
