Guest
Hiya all, I'm interesed in what's the best way to rip a dvd? To get the best quality out of it and no ads, menus... I tried looking for guides but anything google gave me was really old and didn't really tell me anything besides download this and that... I've looked at Handbrake, but I have no idea what settings to use in there? Any help is welcome, Thanks :)

0 SummerWolf
I've always used DVD Decrypter and AutoGK. Found the process to be very good. Check out this tutorial: http://elliottback.com/wp/how-to-rip-a-dvd-a-tutorial/ Of course, AutoGK is pretty old so here's the Handbrake tutorial you wanted: http://elliottback.com/wp/how-to-rip-a-dvd-for-free/

0 Detection
You could use a burning program like Roxio to copy the DVD, and set the output to ISO rather than DVD-RW
0 Darrian
Tells me my dvd is encrypted and cannot copy it... It's my DVD! :p You still need to decrypt it with DVD Decrypter before you can use CloneDVD.
0 Guest
I decrypted my dvd using this guide and it gave me this result. Now when I follow this guide, on step 4 when to choose a title, I cannot choose a title with the whole length. All I get is this: Am I doing something wrong? :(
0 Starbuck84
As far as I can recall, you'll need to select the VTS_01_0.ifo file and not a .VOB file. A .VOB file contains a portion of the movie, usually 22 ~ 30 minutes long.
0 PeteWhite
DVDFab HD decrypter is the free version of DVDFab. You can rip just the main movie part of your DVD to your hard drive then use something like MPC-HC to play. Pete

A .VOB file contains a portion of the movie, usually 22 ~ 30 minutes long. I can't select that file, I tried decrypting with the "File" mode now, and I can decode it. Taking a bloody long time though. :p DVDFab HD decrypter is the free version of DVDFab. You can rip just the main movie part of your DVD to your hard drive then use something like MPC-HC to play. 0 philcruicks
+1 for DVD decrypter, tho I use WinX HD video converter thanks to Neowin for the giveaway the other month. just use IFO mode on DVD Decrypter, look at the length of each section the longest will be the movie itself....use the Stream processing tab if you just want certain bits of that movie...i.e. 5.1 audio track rather then 2.

0 Rohdekill
And I bought the dvd? Provided the duplicate is for personal use only, not shared, given or sold...then it is legal. I believe DVD Decrypter has been illegal to distribute within the US for some time now.

Just put your DVD in the drive, open Handbrake and select the DVD as the source. You can go from there.
