Our Aopen router hosts the uptairs network 10+ machines at any given time. what i would like to do is be able to access the printer and POS system from the upstairs network How would i do so? we have one cable internet connection and each router pulls it's own ip. please help
+BudMan MVC Posted September 17, 2003 MVC Share Posted September 17, 2003 Huh? You gave no info worth anything. All I can make out is you have 2 routers - they pull IP's from your ISP. POS system is meaningless to someone other than you. I fail to understand why you would need 2 routers? You only have 1 ISP? What IP addresses are you handing out to your machines? You have NO infrastructure - besides the routers? The aor-401 a typical home 4port dsl/cable modem router. How is it hosting 10 plus machines?? There must be atleast 1 other hub or switch? I am guessing that you have NO connection between your wireless router and your other network. Since you did not give a model number - I do not know if has any lan ports? Anyway - without knowing more about your setup - how are you handing out private addresses - or are they public? And in what ranges? I can not give you an answer. Connecting your wireless network to your wired is quite simple - but for all I know your handing out 2 different private address ranges - so just connecting them will not work. Why not just use a simple WAP tied to your upstairs network vs another router, getting another public IP from your ISP??
