ANova
HDTV and 1080i are huge. there is no way that you should discount those as they up the visuals like 200%200% is a huge exaduration. Normal TV sets have a resolution of 640 x 480, HDTV only ups it to about 800 x 600. Nothing that special. It's noticable but I can certainly do without it. And the PS2 does support 1080i to an extent, you need to have a monster cable. Again, it's nothing really special.I know nohtign abou the ps2 harddrive but can you have over 20 cd's ripped onto it? I believe it's a 20 GB which means you can rip about 40 cd's to it, assuming it's in a format like mp3 or ogg. I am relatively sure that you arent abled to use your headset in like any of the ps2online games. where on xboxes you can use it before and during games. The whole purpose of having a headset is to use it online. True, the games may have to support the option. Not sure on that.

I don't doubt that I will miss out on a couple of games but none of them are really ones that I would buy a system, like how I ended up doing with the GameCube. mAcOdIn Veteran Posted September 18, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 18, 2003 Actually most of them are exclusives thats why I picked them. Granted other systems will get Beyond good and evil, legacy of kain: Defiance(Maybe), Robotech: Invasion, and fatal frame 2, but the others should be exclusives. But hey whatever makes you happy with whatever system. Only good thing the Xbox has is Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive, Halo, and Panzer Dragoon Orta. Those are the only good exclusives Xbox has. Madden or ESPN sports are just as good on the PS2, and you pay a monthly fee for online games. And any good X box game usually comes out on the PC. You trade the ps2 for an xbox and you'll be just as bored as you were with your ps2.
forster
Convince me not to sell my ps2... If you need convincing, then you are probably going to sell it anyway. Sell your PS2, get an Xbox. If the Xbox doesnt fulfill you, then sell it and get a PS2, or a phantom, or a GC. I was lucky enough to have a little cash spare one month to buy an Xbox I saw pretty cheap on Ebay. A couple of weeks later, I sold it for the same price I bought it for - it just wasnt for me. People will tell you that one console is better than another, thats bull. What sets consoles apart is the games that are released for them. Most releases at the moment are multi platform releases, which means you can pick up the same game no matter what you have. I say, sell up and try it out :)
.KICK
i didnt think black9 is coming to the ps2 ah well i would pick xbox over my ps2 any day, you have to pay 69$ for the hdd for ps2 plus the 128$ for the console where as with xbox you get the ethernet internet ready, hdd ready and all for about 128$ so oh and most ps2 games are ported to xbox anyway so yeah you can sell your ps2 oh and i forgot you have to pay another 30/40$ for the ps2 ethernet adapter

mAcOdIn Veteran Posted September 18, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 18, 2003 Well maybe you're starting to get tired of games to be honest. All 3 consoles have some good exclusives , and they all have ports of more well known games, so no matter which of the 3 you get you'll have some good games, and you'll miss some games the other systems have. But maybe you're getting to the point where you're tired of most games. Maybe you honestly don't need a console at all. You don't exactly have a ton of games for the PS2 so it's not like you're an ultra hardcore gamer, so if you're already tired of the PS2, which has the most good games of all 3, then you might have outgrown or burned out of gaming. I myself have throttled back alot gaming wise. It still interests me and I play games at least once a day, but it isn't as fun as it used to be, for me. woodyp
Each console has it's advantages over the other, as well as it's disadvantage over the others. I have a PS2 and 2 Xbox's...one of them is "tweaked" a bit. When the consoles are ran for normal use, they are about the same, xbox has a few more out of the box features, however the ps2 has a larger game library for the moment. However when you "tweak" an xbox, it becomes a console on crack. After installing a special edition 160 Gig drive, it's amazing how convenient it is to have that extra space. Plus games load times are a hell of a lot faster..you can figure out on your own how that's possible. My suggestion is to keep both if you can figure out a way to raise money for the xbox. Depending on where you live, you can get re-furbed xbox's for about $150. Some of the re-furbed xbox's are coming with 20 gig hard drives now and xbox live pre-installed. just my two cents

AndyD
Though it's true that I don't play as much as I used to, I think the reason for the weak game library has to do more with the fact that most of the attention that I do give to gaming goes to the PC. I still like having a console around, especially when family/friends are over. I own a GameCube as well but that's strictly for the 1st party games. I had mine for best part of 4 years - bought it on release day, sold it for funds for something else to a 'friend'. He had it for a day and his dog had jumped on it and the cog was off. Worked perfectly for me, wasted on an idiot.
AndyD
Problems with the PS2? I've heard about laser issues but I haven't had any crop up on my system. I don't recall any lockups since the day I bought the system on the release day.
