reactionary007
right after it happened everyone i know was like... just rebuild it exactly the way it was... i think thats a decent plan looking at what they've been mulling over thus far. just pull out the original blueprints and start building... why not? it served for years. eye_crust
it's people like you who would rather stop progress and admit defeat to the terrorists. Just because 1 guy in Afghanistan doesn't like us doesnt mean 300million people should sit in a dark corner and be scared for the rest of our lives. one guy hating america?? psh more than 12 million people hate america cause we are irrogant b*stards.. and yes im from america and i hate this country :)

KC
I'm not an American, so I couldn't care any less, but why don't they just rebuild the original complex? This proposal looks ridiculous, and I doubt that glass buildings are a good idea. I don't think it would be all glass those are just windows. Just like any other build that has a lot of glass, from a distance it looks all glass but its not. It would be impossible to do that. I think they we should build the tallest building(s) in the world and it should have a new design, Why rebuild 2 square blocks?

ANova
May I remind everyone that the originals were initially hated as well. Lots of people didn't even want them constructed. But they grew on everyone eventually. This new design looks alot better then the originals did imo. I like the main tower with the spire, and if it is indeed 2000+ feet then it will be equally impressive.
bayrider
no kidding, plz lets focus on the main rebuilding process at hand here. this is just one building out of 7. The design plan was chosen for its floorplan and the locations, memorials, subway, and streetways, NOT THE BUILDINGS, theyre just their to give u an IDEA, but the winner of the plan isnt even designing the buildings.... the buildings will be designed by 5diff architects for each building +2 more. The reason why they dont rebuild the old ones was because, as much of a symbol as they were to American strength, they were horribly designed, it wasnt pedestrian and traffic friendly, nor was it a pleasant site (from the ground), In fact, a few days before 9-11 a team was hired to renovate the entire square. this new design implements a road throuigh it which was originally blocked due to the twins, parks, museum, cultural center, memorial, operah house, retail, a new subway station and a new line departing manhattan under the river/bay to the other side. if u don't care about the WTC because u live elsewhere than NY, then we dont need to hear ur opinions. Im from Canada, and im doing this from an architectual standpoint. *dont forget, this is just a proposed plan for just ONE building (the tallest one at 1776ft to 2100ft), this might not even be built, buts its the most recent drawing since this summer
Boffa Jones Veteran Posted October 29, 2003 Veteran Share Posted October 29, 2003 i didnt mind the two waffles, they jsut would have to take out the jutting parts. its cool that the buildings were so interconnecting.

Daem0hn
its a GREAT IDEA, i love it, build MORE MASSIVE TOWERS to get hit by more terrorists and kill more people, talk about not learing from your mistakes, "those who do not learn from their past are sure to repeat it" moral, dont bild big ugly towers to get blown up after your country has suffered such a big loss when the old big towers are hit
bayrider
its better to not build at all and show the terrorists they have defeated us? u talk as if planes fly into buildings everyday

Jason the Eighty Eighth
it's not a good idea to make the towers excessively tall. they will inevitabally be highlights for potential terrorist attacks. i would prefer to see 7 or so different buildings that are just taller than the surroundings scattered in a circle. along with that, a public memorial park - with a wall with a list of those who died - with 5 sides to symbolically represent the Pentagon in the middle. just my two cents. Axel
Personally, I think those buildings look fantastic, a real piece of art. Seeing something like that everyday has gotta be impressive, especially with how futuristic they look. Plus making them that much bigger is kind of a "two fingers" up at the terrorists :p
Krudomanic
I agree this is sick and uncalled for, thnk of the amount of innocent people who were killed on 9/11... I still have the images in my mind of that awful day and was working for NTL at the time which is an American company and remember monitoring network link to NY and it just disappeared of the face of the Earth as the main link was just a round the corner of the WTC... This is not funny as people should show respect for the dead and not make money of them... I do apologise but, I feel very strongly about this matter and find it very disturbing when there are people making money out of victims of 9/11 have some respect man for the dead...

Resources should not be wasted and if money can be made for anything without actually directly affecting someone in a negative way then there is no problem. YaZoR
dont look visually appealling to me. <offtopic> personally i want (big fuk off) memoriams for my grandfathers and the millions like him who fought and/or died for their countries during both world wars. they are the true brave heroes, and always will be. </offtopic> and yea i thought they weren't building anything and leaving it as a park with like a column/statue etc. with all the names of the known victims of the tradgedy. Krudomanic
Since when is having respect for the dead negative... All I see is fat cats making money there should be a memorial built there not another building... I had friends killed at the WTC so put yourself in my shoes please just for one moment.... rekka
Freedom Tower? You mean like Freedom fries yeh? Bit pathetic if you ask me. They should use the money to build something that is of use to the city, rather than something thats there to show off.
RauL
Saying that if we build taller buildings they will be targets for terrorist, then the whole world should be living underground to be "safe" You cannot live always with fear (besides there are a lot of other mega buldings way more bigger than the Twin Towers were)
