Firefox fonts have become 'duller' after installing 6.0

Question

So I installed Firefox 6.0 an hour ago. I immediately noticed that text in the browser has become noticeably fainter. I have included a screenshot comparing text in Windows and in Firefox so you can see the difference.

This is definitely not a ClearType tuning issue because system-wide fonts render just as they did before; only Firefox is misbehaving. Anyone know why? My theory is that the Firefox 6.0 install overrode some rendering tweaks I might have made in about:config a few months ago but I don't remember what they were. Any help would be appreciated.

The easiest method is to try the Anti-Aliasing Tuner add-on to adjust rendering settings. It may not be updated for 6.0 yet, however.

For "tweaking" fonts, I usually adjust the following in about:config:

1. Auto Quality Font Size = 0

2. Always use ClearType = 1

3. DirectWrite = 0

I paraphrased the above settings, but you get the idea.

Looks fine to me except the irony that Firefox doesn't understand the word "Firefox" in it's spell checker (and I use Google Chrome which understands Firefox just fine without adding it to the dictionary).

Never mind. My theory was correct. For some reason, the install reset the custom value I had set for parameter gfx.font_rendering.cleartype_params.gamma (range: 1000-2200). I don't remember what value I had it at earlier but 1500 looks about right to me, so I'll go with that.

@bjoswald: That was the first thing I tried. Even with Add-on Compatibility Reporter installed, I was unable to get it to work.
