xEonBuRn
I'm having a problem scanning for viruses. I installed NAV 2002 and it worked fine with my first virus scan but I did a LiveUpdate to DL the most recent virus defs and also a NAV program update. Now when I try to do a scan I get a java error. BTW, I'm running XP... and I never had this problem before until I downloaded the NAV program update... I already tried reinstalling it.

Always go here to get your files man: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/download/...ges/US-NNT.html Liveupdate is nothing but spyware so beware if your copy is NOT legal! DoubleJ
Have you done any registry cleaning? On two seperate installations, after I used System Mechanic to get rid of some registry settings it said were deletable, I got the same error. Even after I restored the registry it didn't seem to work, so I just reinstalled NAV.
Joswin
That used to happen to me in the beta version.
xEonBuRn
I did reinstall it... it had been working up until the new NAV Update came out... otherwise all the virus def updates worked fine.
lcohen999
Sigh.... Liveupdate has as much spyware as WindowsUpdate, which is nothing. Regardless, Software developers cannot cripple software if they suspect illegal use, what if they are wrong? You people are way too paranoid. Your toaster is not sending messages back to its spaceship.

Arpit
do you get the same error after reinstalling then running live update?...or without the live update?...tried getting a different copy *but if it worked before, that shouldn't be the problem* ...see if you can clean up your registry, *delete all the norton related stuff* then reinstall it? xEonBuRn
reinstalled, tried it (ran fine), then ran liveupdate... that's when I started getting the error afterward.
Arpit
that means the problem is the liveupdate...try not to use that then... did you try scorbing's advice?...that just might work...?
0sit0
That happens when u start the PC with NAV 2002 disabled :o . Just go to Options and put enable, u'll see. (only if u disabled the Auto Protect thing) and if u want make it to run at start up. And i use LiveUpdate all the time
mortensen
I had that error on mine too so I just uninstalled it.... no matter how many times I reinstalled it it wouldn't work because it couldn't complete the install.
xEonBuRn
I uninstalled and deleted everything out, including reg keys and dirs... I reinstalled it, worked fine, then tried that site that Scorbing gave and those virus def updates worked fine. So I haven't tried liveupdate but I don't think I will. Oogle
If you feel that the uninstall isn't working as well as it should, you should try running RNAV.EXE. This program should completely remove all NAV files and related registry entries. Though, I doubt that it will affect LiveUpdate.

Gotenks98
All you have to do is disable script debugging in internet explorer at that will go away. It is found in the toolinternet optionsadvance tab.
Scorbing
Dude stop complicating your life over this. Just uninstall it, delete the NAV folder from the Program Files - if it's still there after uninstallation - clean your registry with Norton Windoctor and re-install NAV then update it by going to the page I gave you. Do not use LiveUPdate.
