[Video] This is what it's like to be shot at with an AK-47

I know this guy was making a statement about how great his glass is, but this was incredibly stupid. Even if he believes 100% that the glass will stop the bullets he shouldn't of tried this, there are so many variables that could have meant this went completely wrong. What if the guy firing had shot 3 times in one place or the gun kept firing and he was unable to make it stop or the glass fell off its harness or just due to a manufacturing defect the glass itself failed.

I can't understand why anyone would be so willing to put their life on the line for a product. In-fact if he had of been killed wouldn't the guy firing have faced some kind of charge like accidental manslaughter or something?

They probably tried it twenty times before he was willing to go behind it.

The same reason firemen risk their lives - it's a living :p

It's a WASR-10 AK-47. AK-47's are famous for one thing being the most durable assault rifle ever built, they are infamous for one thing as well, being one of the most inaccurate assault rifles of all time.

Back when the first silk "bulletproof" vests were being sold, the inventor would often go on stage and have an assistant shoot him in the belly with a revolver. Needless to say, it worked quite well, and helped sales quite a bit. If someone is willing to back up their product with their life, I think it's pretty obvious that it must be reliable.

You are thinking of Richard Davis (the man who invented/created the kevlar vest in the first place) who tested all the kevlar vests he ever made by shooting himself with the standard issue weapon for whatever agency he was marketing it to, he owned Second Chance. There was never an assistant, he always shot himself as if someone else shot and killed him the case for murder could still be made if a District Attorney wanted to push the matter. Although this was in the 70's and 80's that he would do these demonstrations.

So what if they had shot the glass more than three times? I would think after damaging the original integrity of the glass by it doing the job the first time, then any additional rounds would make it through if the gunman were persistent enough or accurate enough to be spot on with each round.

I can see however, with this application being in personal security/safety where once a bullets hit the glass, then attention would be drawn immediately to move the person away from said glass and to safety especially say if it were to be used to guard The Pope or Royalty.

One thing that I think would be cool with this type of glass would be excellent weatherproofing for hurricanes and such.

A bit Off Topic here, but I remember an episode on Discovery Channel (Can't remember the name of the show), where they took a bed liner such as LineX and sprayed the interior of a building with it. They then set a bomb off in it (Closed course), and it successfully deflected the blast with minimal damage as opposed to what you would get in an unprotected blast. I can't remember why it isn't done with new buildings to make them more resilient against weather or attacks, but I think it might be due to cost. They also blew up a pickup truck with and without the liner. The liner one had a dent in it, but the unprotected one was shredded pretty bad.
