aznfx Posted January 9, 2002 Share Posted January 9, 2002 I was going through my computer's Task Manager trying to cut down on memory when I saw this little app running. What the @#&^ is it? I tried removing it from startup, which I did but it keeps coming back...I have no idea what it is, why it's there or what it's doing. I have apps that I have no clue what the hell they are... When you run a Microsoft Office XP program, the file Ctfmon.exe (Ctfmon) runs in the background, even after you quit all Office programs. Click here for more info on cftmon removal. What is the Ctfmon.exe (ctfmon) file? Ctfmon.exe activates the Alternative User Input Text Input Processor (TIP) and the Microsoft Office Language Bar. What does the Ctfmon.exe file do? Ctfmon.exe monitors the active windows and provides text input service support for speech recognition, handwriting recognition, keyboard, translation, and other alternative user input technologies.
