Nodiaque
Hi, here is the problem I have. I run a server at my place, and it's working. When I go at school or my friends house, it's working, I can connect to it, but when I get to my girlfriend's place, I can't connect. FTP/SSH/HTTP, all failed. Any idea why? It was working before from her place, and then suddently, not working. tks
newsgeek
I guess it could be a firewall or router getting in the way, depending on what port it is...
Nodiaque
There is no rooter/firewall/nat on this machine, it's not on a home network and no firewall are configured. It happen suddently, was working and next day, not working anymore
John Veteran Posted September 22, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 22, 2003 your ISP most likely blocks the ports that your server uses (http - 80, ftp - 21, etc). do an online port scan with all firewalls turned off and see what ports are blocked. Nodiaque
No, I know that my isp bock port 80 except for anyone in the same isp (I'm at videotron, a canadian ISP, and port 80 is blocked only from anyone outside of this isp). That's why my web server use 80 and 8080, but my gf computer is on the same ISP, like my friends one. Also, it was working before, now it doesn't work anymore and only for her. I heard from his brother that it happen with one of it friend too. Also, it's not only port 80, but any other port... I also host a bnet, tetrinet, ftp, ssh, scp, http and other service, none are working. Not even pingable... So I know it's not the ISP, and there is no firewall on that computer. I have an instructor who uses Vid?otron, he never mentioned any problems connecting to his server. He used to do it all the time from the classroom, and the training facility was not on that ISP. edit:Moved here>
WS togermano
maybe it has to do with your isp subnet

I tried to ping but it timed-out. As for the subnet, she didn't change ip since 3-4 months and it was alright like 2 weeks ago... And it's working from anywhere else... same ISP or not...
