thisispete
Hi People... Well I got this virus, and Vet Anti-Virus got rid of it and ive followed all the stuff on the symantec webpage. There is no removal tool, but as far as I can see i no longer have it on my machine. Anyway, everytime i check my emails in outlook, i get like 10 emails and they are all emails with the virus .exe in them. Im not opening them and preview is off, so i dlete them straight away. I shouldnt be getting these if ive got my antivirus running cos its got rid of the virus. WHat im asking is if any of you think that i am getting this from someone who has my addres in their address book that keeps sending it on, or is it still hiding somewhere on myu machine? Today when i got home from work there was 50 (!) of them emails in my inbox... This is really annoying... Pete

Frank
Most viruses similar to the one you mentioned will download address books, and also, just send to random addresses. In our domain we see the virus going to a lot of common addresses like "info" and "sales". Cleaning your system will not stop you from getting the emails. Get a good virus scan software, and that should stop the viruses getting through your mail server (but you will still get a blank message). Frank
Try creating rules in outlook to permanently delete any email with key fields of what the virus has in its base email. This would get rid of most of the emails you are getting.
