Dixie Chicks wont do Country Music again

You can't just back the government on everything just because of Sep 11th, that's just BS.

Where was the criticism for Afghanistan? There wasn't near as much.

Now take Iraq and there's tons of criticism. You know why? Because Iraq is not related to 9/11, terrorism, anything. Iraq was just Iraq.

Just because 9/11 happened doesn't mean I'm going to turn a blind eye to evrything my government does. You do that and one day you'll wake up, and America wou;dn't be America anymore.

And how does ply sci make you any better at politics than the next guy? It doesn't. College is worthless, you learn everything on the job, that degree is just paper.

Anyways I don't care what thier opinion is, but they have the right to say it. Ya'll who disagree with what they say have the right to **** and moan as well. But just because theyr'e singers doesn't meant they can't say ****.

I'm not backing the government. I'm just saying thats what everyone is using. Look at Bush for example. He's criticizing Ted Kennedy for being "unpatriotic" in Kennedy's lashing of the Iraq situation.

As far as Afghanistan, it depends on where you live. I heard a lot of criticism here in MN.

You can't tell me that you don't learn jack in Poly Sci. My father has a degree in Poly Sci and knows more crap than I do when it comes to politics. I've got friends who are in college right now that are getting degrees in Poly Sci and they talk my ear off about politics. People in Poly Sci are educated in learning the techniques and "isms" is the political community. Just like I learned the processes in Health Education. If you think all I know is how to tell someone "how to quit smoking," then you're missing the other 95 percent of training that I received. Health Education involves group dynamics, the art of public speaking/presentations, use of media, community involvement, and practical strategies for the field. Poly Sci has their own nuances as well.

You can't trust everything you read in the newspaper and formulating opinions based on what little you know, doesn't make you intelligent on the subject either. In America today, pulling stupid **** like that when you're famous will make you more enemies for you than friends.

I was actually hoping that the story was going to say they were breaking up...there music isn't that good from any standpoint...and everyone knows that you can't cross over...you can't change teams, it just won't work. Didn't they watch Seinfeld?

well we have Bruce Springsteen who is a true patriot, singing great songs about America itself, he supported the Dixie Chicks and he is immune to critisism so im glad he did

The Boss( Bruce Springsteen), is a true democrat, the reason nobody diss's him is because you

wont see him on stage complaining about the government, its just music and probably one of

the best and hardest working rock stage acts.

He doesnt goto Europe saying the president is a dumbass, he keeps politics out of his shows.

You specifically said in your previouse post "I'm all for Free Speech, but I feel that there will be some huge problems coming on anyone who belittles politicians or questions what they do, esp. after 9/11." so this statement totally contradicts what you've just said. Maybe you'd like to edit on of the posts? EDIT: OK I see what you're saying now, this was my fault for not reading this right.

I never said ther was none I said there was less. And there was less criticsim both within the US and from other countries. Bear in mind we had alot of support in Afghanistan.

Political science doesn't have any facts like say the medical field or engineering. All you learn in poly sci is opinions and past experiences. Just because you do poly sci doesn't mean you are now eguipped to be a politician, nor does not having that degree make you any less able to be a politician. Lots of our politicians don't have political scence degrees, so obviousely it can't be too important.

You can't trust everything you read in the newspaper and formulating opinions based on what little you know, doesn't make you intelligent on the subject either. In America today, pulling stupid **** like that when you're famous will make you more enemies for you than friends.

Don't know what you meant by everything I read and such so I can't really respond. Granted though I do think there situation falls in with the saying "if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen" which seems to be exactly what they did.

The Chick's music is just that, REAL music. I tend to listen to whatever sounds good, that ranges from acapella to zydeco, and everything in between. So what she called Bush an idiot, everyone else has said that, were they blacklisted from anything? No, I don't think so. Maybe that girl has a big mouth, who knows. But Freedom Of Speech should be protected no matter who agrees with what. There were alot of really juvenile comments made on this thread, yet I merely disagree with them, I don't ask Neowin to digitally pimpslap those few idiots...Stupid comments are protected as well as political ideals.

The Dixie Chicks can say whatever they want. Just because they are musicians does not make them forfiet their right to politics.

We all have opinions with regard to President Bush and Iraq.

To bad Nashville is so big that the Dixie Chicks can't continue to play their music.....Perhaps they need to dress in black and do a photo ala Johnny Cash?!?! ;)

Chicks to break with country scene

The Dixie Chicks say they don't want to be a country music band any more.

Violinist Martie Maguire told Spiegel magazine: "We don't feel part of the country scene any longer, it can't be our home any more."

She said she was disappointed other country singers didn't back up the Dixie Chicks in their criticism of George W Bush's politics on Iraq.

"A few weeks ago, Merle Haggard said a couple of nice words about us, but that was it," Maguire complained.

"The support we got came from others, like Bruce Springsteen."

Going home empty-handed from the Country Awards ceremony also made them decide to break with the scene, Maguire said.

"Instead, we won three Grammys against much stronger competition.

"So we now consider ourselves part of the big Rock 'n' Roll family."

that's it? those are their reasons??? I don't liek them anyways, but man, what a horribly moronic couple of reasons. "we got no love from our fans, instead won rock awards" and "other country singers didn't publicize us"???? ok...they just lost the little bit of respect I had for them

No problema. I think I noticed what you were referring to. It feels like a Monday here.

However, your points made sense, though.
