BeOS Is Gone. Is Linux Next?

Recommended Posts

Well seems Microsoft is gaining more terroitory with the release of Windows XP. They drove BeOS out of business, now I wonder, is Linux next on the list?

What do you all think?

no, and they were purchased, not bankrupt.

They were purchased yes, but they sold it because they had financial problems. Read it on their web site: www.be.com

1. You can't drive out of business something that isn't in it to begin with. Some of the Linux companies may have to continually worry about the bottom line, but the OS will easily live on.

2. BeOS may become an open source OS (kind of...), depending on how Palm handles things. A part of the BeOS community is trying to license and continue development on it:

Coz when I hear here and there that Linux is free and bla bla this makes me sick : Have u tought about the migration cost and the poor fellow who was used to his Windows for years ? Do U honestly think that this fellow will move easily to Linux ?

C'mon ! face it : Microsoft is here to stay !

btw I'll miss BeOS ...
