Konstanov 58 Posted October 4, 2011 It's because Apple website's is getting hammered right now and even their main site is getting 404s and Access Denied for pages advertising iOS 5 and the iPhone 4S, probably going to be pretty bad until later today or tomorrow.
Shadrack 601 Posted October 4, 2011 I recall that previous GMs of iOS were installable on non-dev devices. Same true here?
styxrtp 6 Posted October 4, 2011 I recall that previous GMs of iOS were installable on non-dev devices. Same true here? Should be. The GM is "considered" the final release, as long as there are no critical bugs. The only exception being iOS4.0, which required a second release after the GM. +warwagon 13,203 Posted October 4, 2011 If you are on a windows PC, you can use transMac to open the DMG file and extract the ipsw file.
Shadrack 601 Posted October 4, 2011 iTunes beta links are in the same article. As far as I know no UDID registration is required, unless this is different than other iOS GM builds. I'm going to try this when I get home on my iPad.
styxrtp 6 Posted October 4, 2011 itunes 10.5 beta 7 or beta 9 will work on this.
neo158 281 Posted October 4, 2011 whatever, you ipadders get tabbed browsing... Still no tabbed browsing on the iPhone? :o
Konstanov 58 Posted October 4, 2011 but i am reading about needed a UDID...? is the itunes beta even out yet to install this? Apparently you can use iTunes 10.5 Beta 7, 8, or 9 to install the GM.
Stetson 180 Posted October 4, 2011 Still no tabbed browsing on the iPhone? :o Well they've both had 'tabbed' browsing, it's just that the iPad gets always visible tabs for fast switching. The iPhone tab interface is still the same as it always was I think.
Ironman273 1,095 Posted October 4, 2011 So will Beta 5 auto update over the air or does one need to download the DMG?

The iPhone tab interface is still the same as it always was I think. Ah, I don't use an iPhone, you might have guessed, I assume it's the same sort of thing as Windows Phone, a button or menu option? Vice 1,593 Posted October 4, 2011 So will Beta 5 auto update over the air or does one need to download the DMG? Need to perform a restore inside iTunes with the iOS GM, the betas wont automatically update to the final release.
Leo 0 Posted October 4, 2011 Just updated my 3GS and iPad 2. Works great :) Are you a dev? I am looking to update my iPhone and iPad but I am worried about needing to have UDID registered.
Konstanov 58 Posted October 4, 2011 I got iOS 5 installed on my CDMA iPhone 4 without a developer account on Windows 7 64 with iTunes 10.5 Beta 7. It does work.
