i think this just started yesterday, but every so often I'd see what looked to be a windows notification balloon flicker up for a split second from my system tray. And I mean a split second, it didn't stay up for the 5 seconds it's supposed to.
To get to the bottom of it, I recorded my desktop with fraps and caught it in the act. Stepping through the video I managed to see it clearly:
I'm running the latest Avira free version. I ran a scan with MBAM and it came up clean. Also ran "winmgmt /salvagerepository" to verify that the WMI repository wasn't corrupt. What's unusual about this (to me anyway) is that it disappears so fast. I haven't seen this behaviour before.

Has anyone had this happen before?
