Ferret
I got a problem with my network, My machine is the Win 2k3 machine, the other two in the house are WinXP - Problem starts that the two XP machines CAN access the Win2k3 machine, BUT my Win2k3 machine CANNOT access XP machines... I've just removed the names from the image, Thats the error I get when I try and access either XP machine ! Thanks, Ferret ! EDIT - It can't be Permission problems, when I had Win2000 and WinXP on this machine, it could access them other two XP machines ;)
Frank
Do you have ICF enabled on the Windows XP machine?
Ferret
ICF, no mate, don't ! The only firewall is the hardware one on the router... Which shouldn't have any effect on the inside network...
duhdrummer
Are they all on the same domain / workgroup? Also, you should check the local disk drives and make sure that none of them are specially privileged.
AndyD
File sharing not enabled?? Could be the problem. Don't take offense to this: Can't you consolidate that sig a little better :p
Ferret
Andy: File sharing must be enabled, when I had Win2000 and WinXP on this machine BEFORE I installed Win2k3 it worked fine, NO settings have changed in the 30mins it took to install Win2k3 ;) And yes, I thought it was getting a bit big :p duhdrummer: Yes, they are on the same Workgroup called "Home" and like I said to Andy, worked before Win2k3 ;) Thanks, Ferret ! John Veteran Posted September 24, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 24, 2003 if it worked before installing server 2003, then remove server 2003. no offense, but you obviously don't know how to setup a windows workgroup, and adding a locked down OS in there is just going to cause problems.
