Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ22; any good and how's image quality?

Recommended Posts

I need to have a new digital camera.

I'm thinking on the Panasonic Lumix TZ22.

However, on several reviews I read that image quality is poor.

Is this the case in your opinions?

And if so, what are good alternatives (I need to have a decent (great) zoom range)?

What is your budget? Will you be buying in The Netherlands.

Budget is around 300 euro (400 US).

Preferably I'd buy from UK, The Netherlands, Belgium or Germany.

OK, that is quite a decent budget. Anything in particular you are looking for? Pocketability? Zoom Range? Low-light quality? Video? Still image quality? Speed? Obviously it's nice to have all of this, but if you let us know what the priorities are it's be good.

ended up getting this one DSC-HX9V. So far it has been great for me. Has a backside illumenated sensor and shoots 1080p 60p video. I love the way the panorama mode works on this camera also. It has a 16x optical zoom. This is from Dpreviews compact travel zoom test.

Sony HX9V

The Sony Cyber-shot HX9V is very similar in a lot of ways to the HX5 which impressed us in last year's group test. Externally they look alike, but the HX9V offers more customization through the addition of a 'Memory recall' mode that allows you to save up to 3 different configurable shooting modes. The HX9V is also a solid video performer, and is the first camera of any type that we have tested that produces 1080p 60p video. Just like its predecessor the HX5V, the HX9V is capable of extremely good image quality, especially in regards to low-light performance, but operationally, the HX9V is still amongst the slowest cameras in this group when it comes to switching between review and playback, viewing and dismissing videos and zooming the lens."

Looking at the review the Canon Powershot SX230 HS is quite perfect.

On Canon's site it is also mentioned the PowerShot S100.

What do you guys think about this S100?
