Totenmaske
I have noticed this occationally on various desktops, including mine recently. Sometimes a file that is simply marked "~" is placed on the desktop. I can't find what is causing this file to be created, but it seems to appear when checking email or after browsing the internet. I really would like to know what is causing this file to appear - also have noticed when I open the file with notepad I can see some names of various contacts from the address book. But I don't know what this file is, or how to prevent it from being created. help would be really appreciated. This is happening on Windows XP Home and Pro versions. Murdoc
Yes, I have seen this too. I think it is from Microsoft Outlook 2003 after writing a message to someone. Do you have Office 2003 too?
cal2002
you can delete it. It's just a copy of your address book. Microsoft knows of the issue and is working on a fix. Patch 330994 put it there.
Totenmaske
Thanks guys, it's funny how patches seem to add new issues... oh well it really isn't a big issue. But it's good to see that there was something out there on the subject.
