forster
First I've heard - a cheap console is great, but just wish they were providing unqiue games for it instead of rehashed ones... Oh wait, its Nintendo, nevermind...
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted September 25, 2003 Author Veteran Share Posted September 25, 2003 Well people were talking about games they would like to bring back onto new consoles on another thread were'nt they? maybe nintendo reads the neowin forums ;)
forster
Heh - perhaps. But bringing back old games, even with a twist, is still just the same game, different colored barrel. I would love to see something unique from Nintendo, but I dont think it will happen. Yes, I have a GC, GBA and SP - as well as an N64 somewhere. They seem to be flooding the market with hardware, but quality software is no where to be seen.
memNOC
this looks just like that time they sold games on disks for a disk addition on the Famicom, if im not mistaken.. you could do the same, you had blank disks, which you could overwrite how many times you wanted and you'd go to a store and write a game for dirt cheap, or you could buy original disks which came in boxes, but those couldnt be overwritten.. damn, what was the name of that?? im thinking it was for the Famicom...

Hey ace did it ever occur to you that the chinese market probably hasn't seen the majority of the titles for the SNES and N64? When you are entering a market that it like 90% piracy 10% legal its a very smart move to use stuff you have already developed and gotten good use out of in the rest of the world. Why pay a million to develop a game for the chinese when you would only see 100000 dollars or less in sales? Get my drift?

Why pay a million to develop a game for the chinese when you would only see 100000 dollars or less in sales? Get my drift? Um, no, not really I'm afraid. Games, esp. Mario have had editions that were only released over on the eastern shores. Also, please dont call me ace - its not my name, its not affectionate, and it is nowhere near my handle on this forum. Games are developed, and yes, some do cost millions. Why spend millions if you are only going to get a hundred thousand back? Well, they've been doing that for the past 15 years, why stop now? The main problem is this - New (and by new, I mean unique, not necessarily by genre but by content) games + New gaming platform = sales, we all know that Nintendo can come up with a good franchise if they put their minds to it, Pokemon sold millions. Old games + new gaming platform, will not survive in todays market Old games + old gaming platform, this is where old games should stay. I dare you to find me one chinese person who hasnt heard of Mario - they all love the childish games and ALL of them know Kung-Fu. Dont you watch TV? Danrarbc
Nintendo didn't do Pokemon. They took a gamble and bought the company that did before the games ever released, the gamble payed off. And most of their games this generation have been blasted for being too different from their predecessors.
kryptonik
Why is the console coming out in China before Japan? It doesn't make sense. ;)
Boffa Jones Veteran Posted September 26, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 26, 2003 I agree that they shoudln't waste teh extra time trying to sell newer games to a pirates market. It is a good way to try and get some legit sales going on out there. But why bohter going for an all new venture where it will be stolen. And what are you talking about no innovation? Nintendo is innovation. Pikmin, the new donkey kong the maro luigis mansion. I am not saying those games were amazing by a long shot but they were deftinetly not anyhting liek the stuff others are putting out.(oh yeah cant forget wario are...) And its not liek you are seeing a whole lot of innovation outside of nintendo. I am not saying its non-existent but i mean unique games are few and far between where everyone is just trying to make a grab on the new violent/popular game. KingAndrew876
I think this is a good idea, because people will feel nostalgic and get those 6 dollar games for less hassle then it is to play it on the computer with an emulator (using the keyboard). devBrian
HORRIBLE idea. Watch, one copy of each game will be bought, and the games will spread like wildfire... Sigh, Nintendo trying to make more money off of their past success again. Sad, sad.

Danrarbc
I can't believe the Chinese get the normal sized D-pad  :( It does look similar to the Xbox pad, though my first thought was the Dreamcast pad. Same thing I guess. Sigh, Nintendo trying to make more money off of their past success again. Sad, sad. What's wrong with that in this market especially? They've never played the games legally before and I'm sure it's gonna get more than ports.

kryptonik
That is not how the controller will look. Sheesh! Why would they make the controller that big if Nintendo targets kids, too? It just doesn't make sense. ;)
Danrarbc
Rofl. How2CopySega&Microsoft Bears a resemblence to, as far as the shape goes. Look at the frickin' controls though
devBrian
Same D-Pad and Analog positions as dreamcast. Same base 4 buttons on the right. Bottom loading memory instead of top, and two buttons, is all the difference between it and a Dreamcast controller.
