OrangeSoul
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/3131508.stm What are your views about it A study of the major broadcast networks by the Parents Television Council found a jump in profanity on "virtually every network". The study examined ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, WB and UPN. During the so-called "family hour" from 8pm - 9pm, it found that "foul" language increased by 94.8% between 1998 and 2002. It rose by 109% during the hour from 2100. ABC and Fox declined to comment on the findings.

Heathen
TV over here is so tame compared to the UK or Germany. Uk shows have WAY more language than any US show.

threetonesun
Did you know the Pilgrims called cattails **** weeds? Yeah, think about THAT ONE. They're just words people, get over it. unique
TV over here is so tame compared to the UK or Germany. Uk shows have WAY more language than any US show. same with in canada. I wont watch a movie on an american channel simply because they edit/chop out and dub over so much, that it simply ruins the movie. Canadian TV is much more liberal and less controlling of their viewers...if you don't want swearing, flip on the disney channel.
Danrarbc
I think anybody who's watch TV has noticed the increase. I'm fine with it when it's a series that fits the language, but when Barney drops the f-bomb that's a bit much.
Malechai Veteran Posted September 25, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 25, 2003 same with in canada.I wont watch a movie on an american channel simply because they edit/chop out and dub over so much, that it simply ruins the movie. I'd much rather watch a movie on City TV where they hardly cut any swearing (if at all), rather than TBS superstation. god i tried watching Die Hard on TBS once.. if you suffered the pain, you'll recognize this "yippe ki yay mr. falcon" OMG .. mr. falcon?! hahahahaha ok maybe that ones valid because mother****er is a bad one but still. City TV cuts next to no language provided its on after 8pm
CoLdFuSi0n
whats the difference between kids watching tv and hearing swears, then hearing it on the streets or from there parents NONE WHAT SO EVER so like who cares if there's swearing on tv. oh and you know whats the best is when CTV does not censor The Osborns :woot: gotta love all the ****ing swears from that show

KingAndrew876
When I watch the comedy network in Canada it makes me proud to be Canadian because they can say whatever they want :) I still remember when I watched Austin Power: International Man of Mystery on TBS and when he says, "I never forget a ######... Cat.", they changed it to, "I never forget a Kitty.. Cat." I still laugh when I think about it.
Danrarbc
They actually changed ###### to kitty in Austin Powers? Okay that's going too far, the warhead entering the missile has more innuendo than that line.
sciguy007
has anyone else noticed that they censor stupid words too? like in rush hour they change chris tuckers like from, "the iraqis cant even get this" to "the dominicans cant even get this". and even better, they censor all of jim carreys farts in the mask. but then of course they can say gaylord focker on USA in meet the parents because its spelled different right  . ill never understand censors like those. cocklea
in Malaysia, they do the same like Canada, change the language. Like in sex and the city, when the girls say f*ck, they change frog. Sometimes, they change it to fly like in one episode, this guy is shouting "You f*cking b*tch, u f*cking ######!" it comes out "Yuo flying b*tch, u flying ######!"
