Grand Theft Auto V announced, first trailer on November 2

I am. GTA is usually a fall game -- GTA4 being the exception due to technical issues of the PS3 and being a multiplatform release for the first time.

Yeah, but the next generation console from Microsoft is being released at the end of next year. Do you really think Rockstar wants GTAV compared to next generation titles? Even ignoring the fact it can't compete graphically it would be buried in a blitz of media advertising and would struggle to make a name for itself, especially when it's not pushing the boundaries in graphics or gameplay (otherwise that would have been announced already).

I think it's silly assume they would just keep that pattern.. just because it's GTA.

Ever since it was announced, a Spring 2013 release was a pretty obvious guess, considering they've owned that period for the past 3 years or so.

Great news, my summer 2012 guess was way off

Can't wait, one of the few game series that can get away with releasing little to no media before a game launch.

Eff yes. at that poster above, very cheeky there Rockstar!

... wait a second. Again? Delayed launch for the PC port (IF IT EVEN EXISTS)? Oh and I see they're shutting down comments about said topic over at the press release. Willl it kill them to break tradition for once this generation and align the releases?

It's the 2nd November, where's that damn second trailer!

Little disappointing that there wont be a PC released, or at least no information on it. I guess this will be the last game I buy for my 2005 dead tech 360.

We are working on a second trailer - unfortunately Hurricane Sandy has derailed our plans somewhat but we will have something to show soon. Its hard to be precise as we have no power whatsoever in our New York office. We hope everyone else in affected areas is doing okay.

They did say 2nd of November, but their office in NY is without power, so it has delayed the release until future notice (of the trailer, not the game).

But where did they previously state they were releaseing the trailer on the 2nd?

I read the comment about them having trouble in NY with the storm and such.

Well apparently the text above from the magazine was pure speculation - https://twitter.com/...579232740753411

15 minutes left till the cover reveal of the GTA V Issue of Game Informer, and 3 to 4 hours for the full 24 page digital release, and November 16th for the 18 page print version.

Having read the article this game sounds pretty darn amazing, not to mention how insanely good it looks.

GTAV_poster_11-300x380.jpg

No, the main characters are Michael, Franklin and Trevor.

From what I read of the article missions are branching, an example they give is that one guy is sat with a chopper, one with a sniper rifle across the way and another is rappelling down the building, you have to save someone so you rappel down and just as you break in you get the option to switch to another character so you could switch to the sniper guy to take out all the enemies.

Then as you rescue the guy and trying to escape you are in a chopper chase, you can either fly the chopper and let the AI shoot, you can jump into the guy with sniper rifle or you can jump into the guy with assault rifle and shoot the choppers down.

Another example they give is during a heist, one guy could be cracking the safe while another could be watching hostages while the third could be watching the door for police.

The possibilities for this kind of gameplay sound amazing.

Dynamic missions from Red Dead are being included in the game, where you are driving about you can trigger little missions like stopping for a hitchhiker or someone broken down on the side of the road.

Sold, Sold, Sold, Sold, Sold................. I thought they might try and play it safe and make the same game as GTA4 but in a different setting, but this is a day one purchase for me.

Grand Theft Auto V is coming to Xbox Series X and PS5 with exclusive content
      by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe

During the PlayStation 5 reveal event today, Rockstar Games revealed that its massively popular third-person action game Grand Theft Auto V is coming to next-generation consoles in 2021. The new releases will be heralding enhancements too. Check out the announcement trailer above, though sadly, it features gameplay from the current generation consoles.

Rockstar says that the new versions will come with "a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the latest hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever."

The studio will be delivering exclusive GTA Online content for the next-generation consoles and PC once the new launches come through as well. A standalone version of GTA Online is also planned for the new consoles, and it will be completely free for PlayStation 5 players during the initial three months after the game's launch. Standard pricing information was not released today for this multiplayer-only variant.

Continuing on with the PlayStation bonuses, Rockstar will be giving away a million dollars of GTA Online cash every month to PlayStation Plus members who login to the game. The promotion will run until the game's PlayStation 5 edition arrives.

Grand Theft Auto V as well as the standalone Online portion are releasing in the second half of 2021 on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. It doesn't appear as though current generation owners will be getting a free upgrade or anything of the sort.

Grand Theft Auto V is now available on Xbox Game Pass for Console
      by Hamza Jawad

Last month, Microsoft introduced a bunch of games to Xbox Game Pass for Console, including The Witcher 3, Pillars of Eternity, My Friend Pedro, and more. Now, in a somewhat unexpected announcement, the firm has announced the availability of Grand Theft Auto V for subscribers of its Game Pass for Console service starting today.

The hugely popular action-adventure title that took the gaming world by storm likely needs no introduction, even for the casual gamer. For those who are unaware of it, however, GTA V is the latest entry in Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto series, and it first launched on last generation consoles in 2013, followed by a current generation console release in 2014 before arriving to PC a year later.

Notably, those who are subscribed to the Ultimate version of Game Pass, or to Xbox Live Gold, will also be able to access GTA Online for free, which received The Diamond Casino Heist update earlier last month. Game Pass users will be able to purchase the Criminal Enterprise Starter pack and Shark Cash Cards for up to 10% off the regular price. These users can buy the base game from the Microsoft Store for 50% off for the next six days as well. And finally, something that may be of interest to those who want to enjoy the online component with their friends - the first three months of Game Pass Ultimate for new subscribers can be obtained for a mere $1. This deal will end on January 6.

Although its quite likely that fans of the Grand Theft Auto series have already experienced the title in some form or another over the past few years, a digital release offers a slight incentive to those Xbox owners who currently have it on discs. And of course, there are bound to be people who will revisit the title due to the value in replayability it offers.

Saudi Arabia bans 47 video games including GTA V
      by Usama Jawad

A few days ago, we learned that 86% of parents in the UK do not pay any attention to age ratings for games. While this is a problem that likely needs to be remedied, another problem concerning video games has arisen, this time in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia has banned 47 popular video games, reportedly in response to two children committing suicide due to the Blue Whale Challenge.

The Blue Whale Challenge is a "game" that gives incrementally difficult tasks to the player, most of which have elements of self-harm. The ultimate challenge requires the player to commit suicide. Although the viral phenomenon did not spread to the west, it allegedly spread quite quickly in countries like Bangladesh, China, India, and Iran. Apparently, the challenge also led to the suicides of two 12- and 13-year old children in Saudi Arabia.

As a result, reports indicate that authorities in Saudi Arabia have decided to ban 47 games, including extremely popular ones like Grand Theft Auto V, The Witcher 3, Hitman: Absolution, God of War, Wolfenstein II, and various games from the Resident Evil series. The full list of games can be seen below:

Agents of Mayhem Assassins Creed 2 Attack on titan 2 Bayonetta 2 Clash of the Titans Dante's Inferno Dead Rising 3 Apocalypse Edition Deadpool Deception IV : The Nightmare Princess Deus Ex Mankind Divided Devil's Third DmC - Definitive edition Dragon Age: Inquisition Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Draw to Death Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2 God of War 1 God of War 2 God of War 3 Grand Theft Auto V Heavy Rain Hitman: Absolution (2012) Life is Strange Mafia 2 Mafia 3 Metro Redux Okami One Piece Burning Blood Past Cure Prison Architect Resident Evil 5 Resident Evil 6 Saints Row IV Splatterhouse Street Fighter V Street Fighter 30th Anniversary The Order 1886 The Saboteur The Witcher 3 The Nonary Game Thief Vampyr Watch Dogs Wolfenstein 2 Wolfenstein: The New Order YO-KAI WATCH While authorities have not clarified what links the aforementioned 47 games to the tragic suicides, it is important to note that most of these games do contain elements of violence. That said, violence would still be a strange reason to outright ban so many games without any prior public indication.

Lindsay Lohan's appeal against GTA V gets thrown out of court
      by Usama Jawad

Grand Theft Auto V is one of the most expensive video games in history with a budget of $267 million. It is also among the best-selling games of all-time, with Grand Theft Auto Online still being a significant cash cow for the publisher, Take-Two Interactive.

But actress Lindsay Lohan (Mean Girls, The Parent Trap) has long been wanting a piece of that pie, with the celebrity suing GTA V developer Rockstar Games back in 2014. Her latest appeal against the title has once again been unceremoniously thrown out of court.

Lohan filed a lawsuit against Rockstar Games four years ago, saying that an in-game character Lacey Jonas (pictured above on the right, in case you were confused) was an "unequivocal" reference to herself. Lohan's lawyers further claimed that a mission in GTA V - in which the player must help Lacey Jonas evade paparazzi - "contains identical events to the Plaintiff's life".

The suit also claimed that the marketing material for GTA V, which featured a blonde woman, was deliberately based upon Lohan in terms of likeness. Another pre-game intro sequence also sported the woman being handcuffed by a police officer. In response, GTA V's creators called Lohan out for being an attention-seeker with her frivolous lawsuit, and the case was thrown out of court in 2016.

Lohan claimed that the blonde woman at the top of this image was based on her However, it appears that Lohan and her lawyers still haven't had enough, with the party filing an appeal against the decision. Unsurprisingly, this appeal was once again dismissed by the New York State's highest court in a unanimous 6-0 decision that agreed that the fictional characters were most certainly not based on Lohan.

The decision claimed that the characters were nothing more than a "cultural comment" and the blonde woman in question was merely a generic "twenty-something" female. Judge Eugene Fahey's ruling stated that:

It is unclear if Lohan will continue to pursue the case, but given her lawyers' seemingly undying dedication to this cause, we'll likely hear about it again soon enough.

Acer announces a new range of Windows 10 devices at IFA 2017
      by Gurkaran Singh

It's raining Windows 10 devices at Acer's IFA 2017 event in Berlin. The company has announced a slew of devices powered by Microsoft's OS including gaming desktops, all-in-ones, and convertibles.

Here's a list of the devices:

Acer Predator Orion 9000 series gaming desktops

This beast of a machine can support over 8K UHD, and features up to an Intel Core i9 Extreme Edition 18-core processor, with up to a 4-way AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 in CrossFire or two-way Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti in SLI. To keep the temperatures low, Acer is including something that it has dubbed as 'Ice Tunnel 2.0', which is just a fancy name for a solution that splits the system into several different thermal zones; for the processor, Acer is using an all-in-one liquid cooler.

The device's ports include two USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports (one Type-C and one Type-A), eight USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports (one Type-C and seven Type-A), and two USB 2.0 ports (Type-A). It also supports three M.2 slots and four PCIe x16 slots.

The Orion 9000 series will be available in North America this December with prices starting at $1,999, and in EMEA in November starting at €1,999.

      Acer Predator X35

The Acer Predator X35 is a 35-inch, 21:9 ultra-wide quantum dot monitor with a 1800 curvature and a WQHD (3440 x 1440) resolution. Nvidia's G-Sync and Acer's HDR Ultra also make a welcome addition, with the monitor boasting a 200Hz refresh rate, a 4ms response time, as well as 512 Dynamic Backlight Zones. It's expected to be available sometime in Q1 2018, but there appears to be no word on its price just yet.

      Switch 7 Black Edition

This 2-in-1 detachable seems to be in direct competition of the Surface Pro released earlier this year. The device sports the 5-inch IPS display with 2256×1504 resolution and its internals includes an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 Processor, Nvidia GeForce MX150, and Acer's Dual LiquidLoop fanless cooling technology. It also comes with an auto-retractable stand that Acer has handily dubbed as 'AutoStand'.

The device weighs about 1.15kg (2.5lbs), supports Windows Hello and has an embedded battery-free stylus powered by Wacom's EMR technology. The Switch 7 Black Edition will be available in North America in December with prices starting at $1,699, and in EMEA in December starting at €1,999.

      Swift 5 with Windows 10

The sub-1kg metal device comes with an 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor, an FHD IPS touchscreen display, and Dolby Audio Premium. Acer promises an 8-hour battery life but, as always it may vary depending on your usage. The device will go on sale in North America in December starting at $999, in EMEA in December starting at €1,099, and in China in November starting at ¥7,499.

      Spin 5 with Windows 10

While its predecessor offered only a 15.6" display, this year Acer is introducing two variants of its lightweight convertible: 13-inch and 15-inch. The Spin 5 sports an 8th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, front-facing speakers, up to 16GB of DDR4 memory, and Dolby Audio Premium along with Acer TrueHarmony and promises of up to 13 hours of battery life.

The 15-inch model comes with a discrete Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics option. An optional Acer Active Stylus is also on offer.

The Spin 5 will go on sale in North America and EMEA starting from this September, with both the 13-inch and 15-inch models starting at $799 or, in EMEA, the 13-inch model starting at €899 and the 15-inch model starting at €999.

      Aspire S24 All-in-One

The Aspire S24 is an all-in-one that comes with a side-profile of just 5.97 mm with thin bezels that provide a 90% screen-to-body ratio. On the inside, it comes with the 8th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, a tiltable (-5 to 30 degree) FHD IPS display, Qi wireless charging pad and Acer VisionCare technology. The device comes with storage options of up to 256 GB SSD and a 2TB HDD. The Acer Aspire S24 will be available in the North America beginning January 2018 starting at $999, and in EMEA in November 2017 starting at €999.
