Scraggles
I've been hearing a lot lately about 'newsgroups' and I was wondering what they are, where they are and how I can use/view or whatever you do with them. All I hear from my friends is, "You gotta see the newsgroups this week!!' A little insight would rock. Thanks in advance.

Scraggles
I'm still confused, is there some sort of software I need?
memNOC
you need a software that connects to Usenet (News Reader) like Agent, Xnews, NewsBin Pro, etc.. Google it.. but more importantly you need a good Usenet (NNTP) server.. your ISP should provide you with one, but its probably not worth it.. you should register with one of the Usenet providers like Giganews (theres more good ones, im just not familiarized with Usenet server fees and all).. and then, bask in terabytes of information :shifty: theres virtually everything you'd ever need in there.. a MAJOR resource of all things good

OPaul
Every time I download something off a newsgroup it turns up corrupt. Am I doing something wrong?
morganpugh84
OPaul: you can probably downloading a yEnc encoded post as UUEncode. Are you using Outlook Express by any chance? If so get PowerGrab from http://www.cosmicwolf.com it is wicked (but sadly doesnt support multiple servers). No problem Scraggles :) glad to help
