Slow Upload on Verizon DSL

Recommended Posts

I have a Verizon DSL with download of 1.7 Mbps and upload should be 160 kbps. I ran dsl speed tests and i got around the same figures for upload and download. The download is fine but my upload speed i only get 12 to 15 kbps. I called Verizon and they ran a test on my line and said the line was fine and I should be getting a download of 1.7 Mbps and upload should be 160 kbps. But that is not the case with the upload.

I am connect through a linksys router.

Anyone has any idea on how to correct the problem

Any help is appericated.

Thx

well... do you really mean 15 kbps (kiloBITs)? or do you mean 15k/s (kiloBYTEs)?

15kbps is about 1.9k/s... which is much much slower than dial up...

however, 15k/s is 120 Kbps which makes it a little more realistic...

I beleive it is kbps but not sure. For example a small file about 200 megs took me over 3 hrs to upload.

A bigger file about 700 megs well took over 12 hrs.

there is a difference between kbps (kilobits) and KBps(kiloBYTES) your upload of 160kbps is correct. You should be getting 12-15KBps.
