CatnipOligarchy
this owns the matrixs well i havent seen the 2nd lotr yet, but just comparing the first matrix to the first lotr, matrix was better imo, a much more original concept than someone trying to rule the world and someone else trying to stop them

aaron901
haha why must you guys say this film owns that film blah blah blah.. they're both good films.. and this is not a Matrix vs LOTR thread..
matt74441
The Matrix and The Lord of the Rings are both excellent movies/trilogies. Lets just leave it at that.
tcm
agreed. the matrix and lotr have their own qualities, their own advantages, and their own disadvantages. this is not to mention as well that they are 2 totally different plotlines and scenarios. for example, lotr is more epic and dialog-driven (as a whole) than the matrix (which is meant to be aimed at martial-arts lovers). similarly, one may not be a fantasy fan.. and that is a pretty solid requirement for liking tolkien's work. but i cannot post in this thread without giving my opinion.. ;) i prefer the matrix over lotr. in movie form, that is. the matrix has the advantage here, since it is not based on a book or series of books. but no matter how great jackson's interpretation of lotr is (and it is), it can never and will never live up to the books. there is just too much there. and while i would be more than happy (i think i'd just die!) with a 12-hour lotr movie (that is, of one book), most people (read: non-diehards) would not. my own parents, who enjoy tolkien's work but are by no means diehards like me, think 3 hours is too much. my mom foolishly hopes that rotk will be less than 3 hours, or, she says, she will not see it. silly woman. i hope this discussion will continue in this vein, and not break down to flame wars. Tiger.Girl
well i havent seen the 2nd lotr yet, but just comparing the first matrix to the first lotr, matrix was better imo, a much more original concept than someone trying to rule the world and someone else trying to stop them   thats exactly what the matrix is about also so wth? .weir
well i havent seen the 2nd lotr yet, but just comparing the first matrix to the first lotr, matrix was better imo, a much more original concept than someone trying to rule the world and someone else trying to stop them?: ur an idiot, did u even watch LOTR??? I mean the matrix story is wicked complex, but so is LOTR, if you were a half intelligent human being you'd be able to see that. LOTR has a lot more to it than just a straight for stop the bad guy story. And if you read the books and read any of Tolkien's essay's on the way he paralelled the books to his experiences living in Europe during World War II, you'd be absolutely fascinated by it, so don't try and say that LOTR isn't original, it's simply a masterpiece. [EDIT] Am a huge Matrix fan by the way, I'm not flaming it, I love it too, just trying to point out the idiotic comment atnipOligarthy made [/EDIT]
nhut
my mom foolishly hopes that rotk will be less than 3 hours, or, she says, she will not see it. silly woman. Well, she's in for a dissapointment. :) Peter Jackson has said that it'll be a bit longer than three hours. :D --- And can we not start flaming each other? Please? :) ;)
ChicoCahill
you can't compare the too. The matrix was meant to stand alone and then the last two were written after. LOTR is one complete story.
SuperJediMedia
Oh I JUST LOVE this Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Bless Peter Jackson and all of the cast & Crews!! :D I CAN'T WAIT to the conclusion of this Masterpiece!
electic102
you can't compare the too. The matrix was meant to stand alone and then the last two were written after. LOTR is one complete story. Your wrong. The brothers said that they tried to sell all 3 initially but they did not and could not sell them. They always intended it to be a trilogy. No one wanted the Matrix script and WB finally decided to pick it up after the brothers got rejected numerious times.
SuperJediMedia
Argh! I agree about STOP the comparasions. Both are great movies in their own rights. Just because LOTR is great, doesn't Matrix isn't great. It's all about Style. As a faithful Star Wars fan, I still say SW:Episode 3 is GONNA be THE movie to wait for! Hopefully George Lucas got it together and has put in more efforts in Ep3 than Ep1 and 2, he better.
Womble
is there a better res trailer out there, the one from the one ring is poor quality the scenes are so dark compared to when i saw it in the cinema, plus it has all this chinese writting plastered all over it :p
SuperJediMedia
Yeah I like to know too. As for my initial reaction to this trailer - Very Dramatic, very touching, as always... although I am bit disappointed there was not enough Fighting/war sequences. Still, a very good trailer, it's just that 2:30 passed by SO quick!
