Arpit
i'm in my univ res here and in our res, a lot of people are sharing a lot of stuff on the network. now, the problem is that i can't seem to see a lot of those computers from mine. can anyone tell me how to make it work so that it's possible? i even tried searching for a computer *which is there* but the computer search didn't find anything.. here are some of the relevant settings of my computer... local area network properties: client for ms networks tcp/ip ms tcp/ip v6 os: ms windows xp pro with sp1 *disabled QoS...don't know if that does anything?* my network place only shows me a few computers, and there are A LOT more out there... so, if someone can tell me how to go about it, that'd be great... thanks
Frank
can you ping the other computer? Go into a dos prompt and use this command where "computername" is the computers name you are trying to get to. ping computername
John Veteran Posted September 28, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 28, 2003 is your IP in the same subnet as the others? (it probably is, but check anyway) is your workgroup the same as the others? if they're in the same workgroup, you should see them in my network places. can they see your computer? Statikk
If there is a WINS server get the IP and use it. Also try browsing in "Entire Network"
