Different PHP version on subdomain.. why?

Hey guys,

I have a VPS on which I just upgraded my php from 5.1 to 5.2. The problem I have is that my main domain reads it as 5.2 but my subdomain is reading the older version of 5.1

Is there some sort of way to have it so 5.2 is propagated across all of my sub-domains?

This shouldn't happen. If you upgrade PHP, it upgrades it for the entire server (or VPS), not on a per-_{domain basis. Try doing a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5) on whatever page you see is running 5.1.}

_{Alternatively, are both domains definitely on the same server? I.e. are you sure your subdomain isn't actually an A record in your DNS zone, pointing somewhere else?}

_{If you run php -v from a shell prompt, what do you see?}

_{Also, 5.2 is out of date. 5.3.8 is the latest stable version of PHP.}

I was going to say, the most likely reason is the sub domain is on a separate host.

thanks for the reply guys. No actually they're both on the same host.. here is what happened in case someone else runs into this.

One domain was set to fastcgi application, and the other was set to run as an apache module through PLESK. Not sure how that happened, but I switched it so that both were set to fastcgi.

It's worth noting that certain hosts can have different versions of PHP on one package. Media Temple can have different PHP versions (I think I got a sub domain on PHP 4 still while the others are running 5.3) but also MAMP Pro you can do this.
