Nvidia tray icon will not stay after a reboot

Question

I have a GTX460 Video Card running Windows 7 Pro 64Bit and the Nvidia tray icon will not stay in the systray after a reboot. When I check the Nvidia CP the check mark is then missing from the Desktop Button. Driver 285.62 but this happens with any driver. Any help with this would be appreciated.

You have probably already done so, but I would suggest a full uninstall and fully clean wipe of all nvidia drivers. Basically use driver cleaner or a similar app to erase all remnants of the Nvidia driver. Then do a clean install and take it from there. Second I would check to see if there are any start up processes or apps that are interfering with the drivers fully loading. This is a strange one though, cannot say I have really heard of it prior to this. Good Luck. (Y)

I did all of that without any luck. This is really not a big deal but I would like to know why. I have removed everything and started from scratch. I do use a third party theme. I don't know if that would cause anything. It acts the same when I use the MS Aero theme.

I just took it one step further and hacked any thing top do with Nvidia out of the Registry and now it shows. Thanks for steering me in the right direction DL (Y) (Y)

Sweet, no problem and glad to get you in the right direction. I know how little things like that can drive one nuts. (Y)
