winrar can open/test an iso for integrity.

+1 7zip has the same ability.

Mounting is great...but won't fully test the .iso unless you run everything from the mounted image...which can take time.

IHow do you check that ? Do you use any tool for that ?

They usually want to install useless toolbar etc. on your computer before you can install the actual software. Don't click Next, Next, Next or you'll miss the "Don't install Toolbar." option. :)

Just use WinCDEmu Portable and be done with it.

1. Mount ISO

2. Test / Check ISO

3. Unmount ISO

3. Unmount ISO

+1 for WinRAR. Had it installed 10 years and still love it!

WinRAR is for unzipping the stuff. Whereas I want to mount the image and run as if its running from a CD/DVD. I dont think WinRAR has this ability.

If its a software iso, after you mount it, the software autorun UI will pop up.

If its a data iso, windows autorun box will pop up if not than you can go to My Computer and check your mounted iso there.

By checking, do you mean by viewing its content to insure that it will work properly?

Or if you got the ISO from a site than they should a MD5 file hash. You can use the program that ceminess suggest to compare the file hash.

No.

The ISO has a autorun.inf . I want to check that when the ISO is mounted whether this runs automatically.

WinRAR can also extract iso files to a folder, where you can run them. As for checkning the autorun.inf, simply open it in a text editor and make sure the file it specifies is in the correct place. If it is, the autorun should run.

autorun.inf has this :

[Autorun]

open=setup.exe

icon=setup.exe,0

setup.exe and autorun.inf is in the root folder in the ISO.

I want to check whether autorun.inf is working or not before burning the ISO into DVD...is there any way to check this ?

This depends on the PC that you run the software on. The auto run file that you listed is written correctly. So assuming that the PC you run the DVD on doesn't have auto run disabled, then yes the setup file will automatically start.

The only way to check this on your PC without burning it is to install an emulation program like deamon tools or virtual clone drive by slysoft. If you want to test this then go to http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html and install virtual clone drive. Once installed there will be a new CD/DVD drive in my computer right click over the drive and select mount. Browse to the ISO file in question and select it. Once the ISO file is mounted, the autorun should launch the setup file. (providing that autorun is not disabled on your PC)

where you check it ? is not it a hardware settings ?

I already have CD ROM as 1st boot device in BIOS menu . Is there any other settings I need to enable on my PC ?

I have installed Daemon tool but I see the auto run is not functioning when I mount the ISO file.
