Stop downloading??? Of course not.

I used to buy cd's at one time, but after hearing all the crap about them being recalled, etc. etc. and them not working on cd roms anymore, I won't take the chance on buying a cd, so I started downloading instead.

Besides, the way I see it, the music industry has been stealing from me, charging me 20 to 30 bucks for 2 good songs, so now it's my turn, lol.

Besides, I live in Canada, and I pay taxes to cover copying anyways.

Also, I don't give a rats @ss about the RIAA.

@ hardcore: I totally agree! How else would I find out about new bands? They need this kind of exposure. I go out and buy cds of new bands that I like so I can support them etc. Unless they start handing out free cds I'm not going to stop downloading new music...

@net-cruizer: haha yeah, GO CANADA! We've been paying that levy for a long time now, I don't even notice it most of the time. And yeah, a lot of CDs are rip offs here. Some are good deals, like $12-15 but most of them are $21-25. What the heck? And usually the ones that are that expensive are the small new bands. Why make them more unaccessible by making the price so high? Isn't the point to get more people into them?

I listing to much of Dance/Techno music. And allmost everything of that scene isn't getting to the country where I live. Only once in a while there is a cd out with that sort of music on. But when they get out, then the songs are mostly 6 months old, and probebly because the song got promoted on tv, and in the radio.

So if I didn't had the internet, then I couldn't listen to that genre. :(

Kazaa Lite K++ 2.4.3

- (New!) Block RIAA and other organizations from connecting, downloading

and uploading to you.

- (New!) K++ default options have been changed to protect your privacy.

- Bad IP ranges, eg. the ones from the RIAA and others, are now blocked

automatically by K++ thanks to the PeerGuardian IP range file. K++

blocks all these IP ranges from ever connecting to you (both TCP and UDP), and

the connections are closed immediately without them getting a single bit

from you.

- No-one can get a listing of ALL your files through a "Find all files from

this user" command (you're still able to share, though).

- Port 1214 (aka Kazaa's port) is disabled so no-one can scan your computer

to see if you're using Kazaa K++.

Not sure if this works though...

Besides, using eMule, you can download whole albums. Works for me :)

So no, haven't stopped!

Disclaimer:

I live in Norway, according to Norwegian laws, downloading is regarded as recording, and is not illegal.

Besides, I never download copyrighted material.

Yeah, right...

Just my 2 cents. I don't find there's anything worth downloading/buying these days, doubly-so if the RIAA is doing what it's doing. Don't download, don't buy either. There's plenty of media / news / DVD's, etc. to keep my interest elsewhere. Netflix is a great thing.

I've never downloaded more than a dozen or so tunes illegally. I prefer getting them legally via RealOne Rhapsody or other methods. Besides, I'm into 24-bit (SAACD) audio now. 16-bit audio is so "five years ago". ;)

I stopped when audio galaxy went down. now i save streaming music

RIP Audiogalaxy. The best damn music-sharing system, community-wise. The way they implemented groups was excellent... and the way you could join groups based on your chosen genres and get new music automatically delivered to you was amazing. Aah, the golden age of music sharing.
