0 Muhammad Farrukh
The media player through which you'll play them should give you the option to change the aspect ratio. e.g. I use VLC Player and in it, I can change the ratio by right click > Video > As[ect Ratio > your desired one
0 Blaze_Zewi
You can, but at the cost of losing the top and bottom of the 4:3 video. Which I will not recommend. Just grab a 4:3 Monitor and you'll all set...

0 Nick H. Supervisor Posted December 13, 2011 Supervisor Share Posted December 13, 2011 The series was filmed in 4:3 though wasn't it? Yes. I have no idea Nik, im pretty sure when its on the telle though the aspect ratio is full screen. You can change it so that it becomes "full screen," but you will cut off part of the image on the top and bottom of the screen.

0 +Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted December 13, 2011 Subscriber² Share Posted December 13, 2011 Early episodes (up to the 1990s I guess) were filmed in 4:3. This means to see it on a widescreen TV you can either: * Stretch it to fit all (lose the aspect ratio) * Stretch it to fit height (lose the sides of the image) * Watch it with black bars down the sides Sorry, but re-encoding it, or whatever else you wanna do - I don't see how you expect anything other than the above? 0 +BudMan MVC Posted December 13, 2011 MVC Share Posted December 13, 2011 ^ exactly If it was filmed in 4:3, changing to fit into 16:9 is going to either stretch the picture or zoom into the picture and remove part of it. To correctly watch a 4:3 video on a 16:9 screen you would run it with pillars on both sides. Anything else is asinine!! Your screwing with the picture.. If its 4:3 and your TV shows it in 16:9 its dicking with the correct way to view the video.. There is no way to make a 4:3 into 16:9 without either loosing some of the picture or making everyone short and fat by stretching it.

0 +BudMan MVC Posted December 14, 2011 MVC Share Posted December 14, 2011 "God damn technology should be better" what?? How do you expect to fit 4:3 image to 16:9 without either either loosing part of the picture or distorting it. If you could do that you would be very very rich ;) There is a method where they stretch the outside of the image to fill the 16:9 but leave the center of the screen closer to the original aspect ratio.. But this also BLOWS!!! And makes watching anything with movement from center to outside horrific!! You either zoom into the picture and make the width fill and cut off either top or bottom or some of both. More than likely loose quality of the image as well since your zoomed in an now displaying less pixels over a larger area. Or you use the correct vertical size and have nothing showing in what is left over of the 16:9 screen.. Pillar -- which is the correct way to display 4:3 content on a 16:9 screen. Lets not forget the actual resolution of the image and the actual screen size and resolution of the screen. If your screen is X pixels native, and you only fill it with y which is <X its not going to look as good. I just do not understand the want of filling the wrong aspect ratio screen if the image is not at that ratio?? There are quite a few channels that dick with the original content and they really should STOP IT!!! Show the show in the correct aspect ratio and the content will look so much nicer.. I can not stand to watch stretch-o-vision, I would rather not even watch it. drives me nuts every time I go to someones house where they have their tv in that mode -- are you F'ing blind?? That victory secret model looks like she is a 200 pound dwarf ;)
