suprNOVA
Yeah so I formatted my HD (C:/) that had Windows on it and re-installed it. Now I'm having trouble with the Internet as in it shows full bars but it disconnects and reconnects while I am using the internet. The linksys router is right next to me and funny enough the Xbox in my room can go online without any disconnect as well as a computer in another room! I am getting frustrated and wanted to see if someone here could help me!! Note* - It doesn't show me that the internet has been disconnected (Wireless Bars are ALWAYS full, never does it say "disconnected") but does display it when refreshing something like G-Mail or Hotmail (it will say "Could not connect to the Internet right now"). Note** - My Windows is not activated just yet either so could be that seeing as that's the only thing different about this new install
+BudMan MVC Posted December 13, 2011 MVC Share Posted December 13, 2011 Activation would have nothing to do with it. "Internet as in it shows full bars" Curious why if the router is right next to your machine why are you wireless?
suprNOVA
That's because I just moved into a new house and all my wires are still over at the old house, so I'm using wireless until I can get those wires back!
helpifIcan
Sometimes too close is as bad as too far.
+BudMan MVC Posted December 14, 2011 MVC Share Posted December 14, 2011 Yeah too close is not always good either, and could you post the exact error you get -- what is displaying it? The OS, the wireless supplicant, your browser? Could be something as simple as a dns timeout.
Sjoerd de Bruin
Try a alternative DNS server, like Google DNS. (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4)
Hum
Maybe you simply need some Windows Updates.
Gerowen
Try updating the driver for your wireless card. I had a very similar issue before and it was a bad driver.

Wow... cat6's are pants pocket equipment! :s :p I suggest running the whole program: a) Driver updates b) Windows updates c) New firmware? d) Maybe do a little check with a live OS (like Ubunutu live CDs / ...) to test against anything software related on your PC (apart from card's firmware obviously) Glassed Silver:mac
suprNOVA
Wow... cat6's are pants pocket equipment! :s :p Yeah I know but I'm using a laptop (didn't mention that) so almost unnecessary for me especially when I'm in different parts of the house etc. I like your last idea trying to install Ubuntu, thanks mate! :woot:

(Y) It surely is a nice OS in some ways, there's a reason I always get back to tinkering with it. Guess I'll go use some VM's again, I mean, 16GB of RAM, come on! :p Glassed Silver:mac
