E4200 vs WNDR4000

Recommended Posts

I have the WNDR4000 and I love it. Easy webGUI. I live in a 3 story house and the router is in the basement and it provides great reception to the PS3 and Xbox upstairs in the bedroom no buffering when streaming AVI or MKV or Windows Media Center. I never used the E4200 but heard a lot of people rave about it on Neowin, I personally had some bad luck with Linksys WRT54G routers in the past so I moved to D-LINK and after their firmware bricked my DIR-855 I moved to WNDR4000 and so far no issues!

I have been looking for a good router for a while now and I was looking at that netgear one until I started looking at some of the reviews on it:

Decided not to get it. I'd go with the e4200v2.

I've always been a Linksys person and I just love their routers, I would of compared it to the WNDR4500 instead but I'm really wanting a router that can go flat as it's going in a cabinet.

I just thought I would ask as the WNDR4000 looks like a good looking router and I love flashing activity lights :) (sad I know). It's a tough one as there's load of reviews out there with mixed responces but I'm currently siding with the E4200. I know one things for sure, I will never buy another D-Link product ever again.

fly with E4200 with DD-WRT

Ugh no, TomatoUSB for stability, speed and good QoS

But yeah get the E4200. It was also found to be the router with best range in a test here.
