I asked a client to burn an ISO for me

Recommended Posts

I asked someone to take a screenshot of something for me, so he whipped out his camera.

This. Taking a picture of the screen with a camera? Really, Marshalus? :p

Ya, skilled people know that one must always save 1920 x 1200 screenshots as BMP files and then attach (quite a few of them)

To be fair, he did burn the ISO file to a CD :p ;)

Indeed :p

However, I guess it would not be a bad idea to add a function to burning applications that checks whether you're about to burn an image file.

If so it would ask you whether you want to copy the image file to a physical disc or make a 1:1 copy.

Cute resolution.... :p

Just playing...

Uhm... The standard save format in MSPaint is now PNG.

So... yeah...

Then again, I realize you're just playing, too!

I remember when the technology first came out, and I was talking about burning CDs. A friend was confused and said they would take the CDs if I didn't want them, but not to set fire to them...

A relative of mine had just returned from Africa and promised to burn copies of a particular bit of software they required and send the dvd's back over. He quite proudly showed me his handy work AFTER he'd sent the copies. He's literally just drag and dropped the shortcut to the app onto a disc and burned that LOL

For those of you going on and on about the screenshot, I was using a client system and their network is pretty locked down, so it was just easier :)

But thanks for playing.

I remember a lot of websites eons ago using the term "cook" or "roast" to describe burning a disc. Imagine asking someone to cook a disc for you LOL.

It remins me of something :p Two years ago, I gave to my parents a digital camera for christmas. They took pictures during the holidays and when I asked my mother to send me the pictures she took, she answered me: "But if I send you my pictures, they won't be in my camera anymore"... Ok mom, nevermind.. I'll copy the pics myself when I'm gonna come visit you.

Yeah, if the OP worded it like 'burn an ISO file to a CD' then technically he did exactly what was asked.

Maybe the guy that did it saw how he worded it, and as a joke did exactly that, sounds like something I'd do as a joke.

Well, a few years back I asked someone for a screenshot, so he took a picture of the screen with his polaroid scanned it and sent it.

I could see the picture in the uper corner of the scanner... the rest was all blank.. lol

bah...when I help people out on the forums and I ask them to burn the iso to the disk, they tell me that the disk won't boot up....I then ask them to burn it again using iso burner, one time I had to show them the contents of the disk because they didn't believe they burned it wrong. many people don't know what a iso is, much less how to burn one properly.

That reminds me of the organization where my mom works (I'm an ocassional volunteer IT with them). She and her coworkers work in a branch office. When headquarters asks for photos from the office camera, someone from the branch office goes to headquarters and drops off the actual camera. This is a 2 hour trip each way (they are on opposite sides of the city).

They were very impressed when I showed them how to connect the camera to a PC and how easy Windows 7 makes it to burn the files to a CD. Will they remember? No.

I asked a client to burn an ISO file to a CD for me, this is what he gave me...

I was too nice to correct him, so I just burned it myself.

Well he did do it. You didnt say make a CD out of a ISO file.

And taking a screenshot with a camera is indeed a fail.

I dont think its your client we should be laughing at.....
