liar2
why don't you just attach the mac to the router?
Tiger.Girl
the router is over 60 feet away and there is a wallplate installed and wire running through the walls, connecting to the router isnt an option
Frank
Have you set up ICS on the PC you are connecting to?
74barrio
You could also use a 4-port mini switch off that line coming through the wall from the router and connect the PC and the Mac to it. This way you also have extra ports available in case you need them.
John Veteran Posted October 1, 2003 Veteran Share Posted October 1, 2003 if you setup ICS on the windows computer (with 2 NICs) the mac should auto-config its DNS, DHCP, etc settings and get online.
liar2
did you make sure the mac is set to get an IP via DHCP rather than PPP or PPPOE?
Tiger.Girl
apprently according to MS You should not use this feature in an existing network with Windows 2000 Server domain controllers, DNS servers, gateways, DHCP servers, or systems configured for static IP addresses. but my brother said next time hes over he would give me a netgear hub he doesnt use anymore so everything should be good
