DocM
Chinese sources from SpaceRef (PDF) A key point is transitioning the Long March launchers away from using nitric acid and unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine as booster fuels. The villagers downrange from their launch sites will appreciate that. They also plan a 25 metric ton to LEO launcher, a spacewalk, 2 flights to Tiangong-1 etc. http://images.spaceref.com/china/ChinaSpaceActivitiesin2011.pdf
neoadorable
am adding this to my sig later: "Outer space is the common wealth of mankind. Exploration, development and utilization of outer space are an unremitting pursuit of mankind" That about sums it, and this is how i feel when i read stuff like that:  tears of pride and joy at being human. China are doing the right thing and have the right idea.
DocM
Yup - China has taken the long view and has a plan. Give 'em credit when it's due, and they're doing a great job so far.
neoadorable
indeed! they had me at the first sentence, i didn't need to read the rest. anyone who understands space is the future of humanity and for the benefit of all is my brother (or sister). i want to hear more talk like that from NASA, an organization i love dearly. i think they're afraid to spit it out, so their angle is more like we're doing it for the science. they need to remind people that it's for our very existence that we're doing these things.
