Windows 7 x64 WMP clicking....

Question

Admins, I really was not sure where to post this as I am very sure it is not a hardware issue. I picked my sound card and speakers very carefully for this system and have had no problem till lately.

Lately, the past week or so, my music keeps clicking through the entire songs. I NEVER had this problem and seriously have done nothing additional to my system. As many of you know I was going to play with Q-Fan in the bios but never did.

All I can do is give you my settings in the Creative Audio Console, as I do not use all that extra crap Creative wants you to install i.e. player, volume control overlay etc... all stuff you really do not need.

Here is my Console data:

Device Information: SB Audigy ZS Audio Platinum

Speakers: 5.1 Speakers

EAX: Off (No Effects)

CMSS Modes: CMSS 0%

Decoder: Built in Decoder - Details: Dynamic Range Normal, Pro Logic and Digital EX off (Probably not related as I use the analog outputs)

SPDIF: n/a

Bit Accuracy: Normal

Headphone Detection: Now disabled

Restore Default: Normal with activate button. I will use this to reset if I need to.

SOUND SETUP IN CONTROL PANEL

Playback: Default speakers only: Advanced All audio enhancements disabled (this is usually where I would check) 24 Bit, 192000 Hz (Studio Quality) Maybe I can play with this?)

Recording: HD-3000 Web cam Speaker

Well that's all the info at hand. If you can think of any other info I can give you please let me know.

Drivers are the latest and only drivers Creative has release for Windows 7 x64.

Will keep watch for newer ones (but won't hold my breath.

Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

Control Panel -> Sound -> Playback -> Speakers -> Levels and MUTE all other outputs apart from Play Control.

Always the first thing that comes to mind.

Unless you are playing 24-bit 192000 Hz sampled audio, there is no reason to set it to this. If your music is MP3 or even FLAC, you should set it the same as the audio signal, most likely 16-bit 44100 Hz. See if that changes things.

Only my current speakers are listed

Ok, I will try that.

Changing the Bitrate seemed to help. We will see in the long run.

Thanks,
