Ash
Ya it's one of the best, but I still like Saving Private Ryan a bit more. None the less its awsome. I also liked Hamburger Hill.
blackcoffee
,Oct 3 2003, 05:20] I just watched this movie "Platoon" and damn, that must be the best war movie in history and it was unknown for me till now, just a Stone?s masterpiece, who also knows and like this movie? Wasn't Willem Dafoe just absolutely amazing in that one. Well that could be said for a lot of the actors; but yeah I couldn't believe how powerful it struck me after watching it. It's a real good film; no doubt.

I expect a good acting everytime I see him, but in the other hand, Sheen, damn he actually know to act in that movie, it seems that everyone gave his best performance

mayamaniac
depends on where you are in the world. If you're in the USA and have not heard of it, then that's got be hard to believe. Its one of those classics they show every year on local TV stations. Honestly, I haven't seen it again in a while, saw it many many years ago and don't really remember it. Next time I see it on TV, I might keep it on that channel instead of flipping the channel. :p But no matter what, i think Saving Private Ryan rivals that if not better. rezza Veteran Posted October 3, 2003 Veteran Share Posted October 3, 2003 Full Metal Jacket is the best war movie ever made, IMHO. Absolutely mindblowing... and the start is classic! "Where you from, Boy?!" "Texas, Sir!" "Texas?? Only steers and queers come from Texas, and you sure as hell don't look like a steer to me, so I guess that kinda narrows it down a little, doesn't it?" Krest
IMHO "Apocalypse now" and "Johnny got his gun" are the best (anti)war movies ever...
