Windows 3.1 Launch Party!

Recommended Posts

0:51 - there's a pair of PS/2 sockets. 5-pin DIN were used back in the days of 3.1; obvious fake is obvious.

IBM and a few others had the PS/2 port out in the late eighties, however most compatibles did use DIN.

It's obviously a fake as Windows during that time was a business tool not really a consumer tool, launch parties came in when Windows was made more into the mainstream, Windows 95 onwards.

the backside of the PC shows that it houses a ATX motherboard which were not introduced before 1995 :)

apart from these 'obvious errors' they should have done something to reduce sound quality - which is much to clear for a broken VHS video :)

I remember when Windows 3.1 came out. I had a 286 computer that I had bought brand new, and came with Windows 3.1 on it. First thing I did when I unboxed it was to format the drive and put DOS on without Windows. it was GREAT! LOL

PS/2 ports were introduced 5 years before Windows 3.1.

Why would you bother to do that when you could have simply deleted the Windows folder and achieved the same thing?

Back of the motherboard is to the AC'97 standard - colour coded Audio & PS/2 ports, not to mention what looks like a USB port. Also ports integrated to the back of the motherboard as not common back then, most ports would have been though a PCI card or PCI slot.

If it wasn't for this error it would look fairly legitimate from the era!

Careful with the sound recorder though, maximum recording time is 60 seconds! Not sure how it plays back with a computer generated voice either.
