The best Wireless USB stick for desktop

Recommended Posts

I personally use the ASUS USB-N13 on my desktop, and it's rock solid. I'm up one floor from the router, and a hallway plus a room across, and get full bar reception with my ASUS n-router at n-speeds. Can't stream 1080p content, and 720p is dependent upon traffic/congestion but for everything up to gaming I have no complaints at all.

Theres a few N type USB sticks out but be sure to get one with higher throughput Id suggest either a 150 or 300 Mbps rated device.I was looking on Amazon the other day and they are fairly cheap these days and come in a varied range of makes.

Netgear N900? Cheap enough (~$36) with the highest possible transfer rate that I'm aware of.

But you're better off with a decent internal card as they have bigger antennas, my 2c.

I use the ASUS USB-N10 and get full bars with my router being on a different level of the house.

I wanted something that's low profile, so I wouldn't have to worry about busting it off. Works really really well and it costed about $20:

Hello,

For 801.11a/b/g/n USB devices without an antenna, I like the Linksys/Cisco AE-1000 adapter that display name mentioned. For 802.11b/g/n USB devices with an external antenna, I have had very good results using Rosewell (Newegg's house brand) RNX-N180UBE adapter. I see that Newegg now has a dual-antenna model here that supports 802.11a/b/g/n. I had a spare Intel WiFi Link 5300 MiniPCIe card for a notebook computer that I installed into a MiniPCIe to 1xPCIe adapter with three external antennas, and from what I recall, it seemed to work well, too.
