HawkMan
If saturation of the upstream is the problem, and game latency is what's affected, I suggest you check if your router supports QoS. PReferably with a router that supports custom ROM's specifically Tomato/TomatoUSB: as TomatoUSB has the best and fastest QoS solution I've been across, the only one I've seen that really works. +BudMan MVC Posted January 22, 2012 MVC Share Posted January 22, 2012 There was a thread awhile back about spotify here on neowin, people were saying NO that can't be the problem ;) hehehe I said then and I say now -- and this thread just backs it up, yeah its can be a HUGE problem!! And there is no way in the software atleast the last version I played with to limit its upload speed. Your going to have to use something like netlimiter on his machine. QoS on the router to the internet I don't think is going to be much help if your all wireless -- are you guys wired?? Those kinds of spikes and traffic are going to kill a wireless connection - period! To be honest the best way to throttle it is turn it off ;) Have him disconnect and listen to cached music when your playing -- by the nature of spotify even if he is not listening to anything -- since its p2p, users could be hitting his cache to access to the music. Does he share his playlists -- that is also some cause more traffic.
Vice
I had no idea Spotify was uploading content to other users. This is interesting. Is there any page that details this in more depth, I couldn't find anything on Wiki about it.

Our 360's are wired for the best possible ping. I'll give am update about Netlimiter's progress on the situation, but I'd hate to have him disconnecting his wireless all the time especially with the amount of online homework he does. +Mystic MVC Posted January 22, 2012 Author MVC Share Posted January 22, 2012 He doesnt have to completely disconnect - just have him turn off spotify ;) Limiting Spotify to 5kb/s seems to be fairly effective so far. No huge spikes in ping.
