Find global hotkeys on system?

Question

Anyone have working software that can return all global hotkeys on a system? I Have used Windows Hotkey Explorer before (made by the people who make Hotkey Commander), but now it seems to simply crash. In short, specific bindings in video games do not work, before I discovered a hotkey being used by Google Chrome (one of the boss keys) that I was trying to use as a keybind, which was not working in-game due to Chrome "owning" that hotkey. Now, I am trying a few other combinations that just refuse to work, and for some reason, Windows Hotkey Explorer (and Commander) just crash whenever I launch them.

Is there any other software that can do this? I am not trying to use any windows hotkeys, so its quite frustrating that other programs register global hotkeys that prevent me from using those as key bindings in video games.

maybe you should look to something being wrong on your machine - I just downloaded the free explorer from here http://hkcmdr.anyman...kexplr_inst.exe

And its running on my win7 x64 just fine.

Seems like the exact tool you need for what your looking for - runs fine on my system, so something odd there.

I tried the same program on my PC (Win7 x64), and it crashes. We're not the only ones either. I tried searching and this program came up several times, but many people had the same problem with it crashing.

Not sure what to tell you, what do the threads say about it crashing? What info do you get in the crash? Could it be your antivirus? have you tried running it in safe mode. Can you point to some of the threads where people talk about it crashing maybe we can work out why it doesn't like your machine.

But does seem like the perfect software for what your looking for.. BTW thanks for pointing it out, have not run across anything like it before - could come in handy..

dig you download it direct from the website? http://hkcmdr.anymania.com/

I can send you the md5 or sha1 hash of what I downloaded and see if they match, etc. maybe you got a bad version? Does the setup run fine, or is it the setup that crashes?

I downloaded it from anymania and the setup runs fine, when the program starts it populates the window like you would expect, but sometime after it goes off the viewable area it crashes and you can't scroll or anything. Haven;t tried safe mode yet, but none of my software would be running so it wouldn't give me the info I need anyway. I don't get any info when it crashes, just the general Microsoft "This program stopped responding" info...

Hello,

In the past, I have used Ziff-Davis' Hotkey Detective to see what keypress were bound to what programs. I am not sure if it is still published/updated, though.

I couldn't find any Hotkey Detective that would work in Windows 7.....though on the flip side, for some reason as soon as I close Google Chrome, Windows Hotkey Explorer stops crashing (which is odd, because the first time I had an issue with hotkeys, I had Google Chrome open and Windows Hotkey Explorer showed me where that hotkey was assigned). On the downside, it appears the binding I was using is not on the list, which I guess is a good thing but it means something with the game is bound that I cannot find or something along those lines is preventing me from using the binding.
