pmh
I was wondering how i could set up a bittorent file (site?) on a lan. You see, saw I have the latest game demo and 15 other people want it. they would all suck it from me and slow my connection dowwwwwnnnn. So i was thinking if i could set it up as a bittorent file, they could be downloading from me and each other, eazing the pain on me.
eversor
I know its not helping but i would setup a direct connect server....
HellBender
I suppose you could make a torrent file from the demo and distribute it.. although, I'm not sure if that would go through the LAN or if it would go through the regular net instead. pmh
If it went throught the net then that would be even slower. Plus, where would i host it?
Statikk
Why not make them give you a cd-r?
Imaginos
If they are on lan with you, open a fileshare on the subnet for them or ftp.. That would still hammer you, but it would be over quicker. Alternatively, the torrent needn't be hosted on a public announce site.. that would do ya..
pmh
Ok, well then how do I make a bittorent file? The Cd-r idea would be good, but then we would have to go one at a time. If I can't get this to work, I guess I'll just FTP.
MxxCon
instead of bittorrent, use gnucleus "lan edition". bittorrent won't be good for what you are trying to do..especially with only 15 people. Gnucleus LAN - If your college blocks gnutella use this to create an internal network for you and your friends. General rule is if you can play network games over your school network, gnucleus will also work. This version can be run on the same computer as the internet version. http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gnucleu...usLAN_1.7.5.exe
