Connect to the admin panel of the router

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to access the admin panel from my browser and whenever I type in the IP in Chrome the browser googles it instead of going to it , Firefox gives me a timeout error and IE gives me a connection problem ... Internet is working fine so it must be something with my router . Any insight ?

I'm not really sure if this helps but when I typed ipconfig in the command line I couldn't find the gateway

type ipconfig /all to see all the info -- but just ipconfig should give you the gateway. It would be impossible for you to get off the network without a gateway - unless you were pointing to a proxy on that network that had a gateway.

If you can not see the gateway, how do you know what IP to access for your router?

example - just ignore my ipv6 stuff there

As to chrome searching vs just going to it -- yeah not a fan of that feature at all - I find myself quite often searching vs going to the site in question its all how you hit enter or click etc. Like I said not a big fan of chrome, only use it when testing ;)

I would go into the properties of Tcpip 4 and change it to obtain ip address automatically if it isn't already set like that (then do an ipconfig /renew) . See if that works. if not unplug the router and plug it back in and try it again. Then wait about 30 seconds and at the CMD do a ipconfig and try to connect to the default gateway.

"your router should be in there along with any PC that is connected to the router."

That would not be the norm at all, would depend on quite a few factors as to computers or devices showing up there. Not a good suggestion to be honest. If he has no gateway listed from an ipconfig output, then it is IMPOSSIBLE for him have internet access without use of a proxy. You can not get off your network without a gateway.. Just not possible -- so for internet to work without a gateway you would have to be using a proxy, that did have a gateway off that network.

I would suggest the user post the output of his ipconfig /all

its possible he has multiple interfaces and is looking at the wrong interface for the gateway, lots of machines have multiple wired interfaces - or maybe he is using wireless, lots of possibilities - if he posts the output of ipconfig /all we would have the info needed to help.

I didn't know that using wireless makes a difference in the output .. I am using wi-fi on a laptop and this is the outcome

I was able to access the router through the network folder but I want to access the admin panel because I want to make this router invisible to certain devices ... Is that possible . I want a certain Handheld device to be unable to access the router (Without changing the key on the router) that is I want it to be unseen by that device to start with

2001:0: is a teredo address - that has NOTHING to do with your connectivity.

Dude if you want some help post the FULL output of ipconfig /all

From you posting that section only you have not show us anything that can be used to help you!

if your IPv4 starts with 10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x or 172.16-31.x.x it is private, and there is NO Concerns with posting it.

Here is my whole ipconfig /all output -- the only thing I have hidden is my global PUBLIC ipv6 address which has nothing to do with what your trying to do.. I find it HIGHLY unlikely that your on ipv6 network only where your router would have a IPv6 address.

Again 2001:0 is teredo range and has nothing to do with you accessing your router.
