kombolcha
with in the recent month my cable has had 2 downtimes one lasting almost 2 days... when i called they're either upgrading servers or they have a virus in their system.. and today i noticed that my DAP doesn't work like it used to.. it would start downloading and then stop and i have to restart it a lot... i can't play online games anymore like ET.. impossible to play. can't stay signed into messenger for more than a minute without it disconnecting.. same with trillian skype seems to be the only thing connected, but i don't use it because it's a resource hog imesh light doesn't connect anymore. and downloads aren't as fast as they used to be. and lastly i can ping anything but i'm able to post this :argh: my computer was recently fresh installed.. and i've set up my NIS firewall correctly and disabled the XP firewall. any suggestions or comments? liar2
I'd have to say that's the reason I've stayed far, far away from Adelphia. They always claim to be "upgrading" stuff. I've never seen their cable tv or internet be stable for longer than 2 weeks. I'm thankful that I'm out of their range. So yeah, I'd most definitely raise hell on them! kombolcha
... just got off the phone with them, and the last 20 billion times i have called they have failed to mention (until now) that my Terayon modem is a piece of hippo crap  everytime they said.. we're upgrading.. virus.. wait for it... it should be up... we're sorry for the inconvinience. so now i gotta drive to the local office and switch it with a "surfboard" bran modem  do we have a middle finger emoticon?
bangbang023 Veteran Posted October 4, 2003 Veteran Share Posted October 4, 2003 Well at least you new modem will be a good one. It's a motorola and, as far as I know, alot of people here have them, including me, and it works beautifully.

74barrio
Adelphia has disabled pings indefinitely due to the blaster worm (an advisory email from them was sent out). Also, I have Adelphia cable/internet in Redondo Beach and outside of two instances service has been great: 1) The switch over from @home was a complete mess ? during the first month: my account was "accidentally" closed out three times, they started charging me a lease fee for a modem I owned, and my connection would drop off repeatedly. 2) About a year ago my modem would lose its connection during the day and then re-sync at night. For the life of me I could not figure out what was wrong, so I called Adelphia and after getting past tier three in their service hierarchy a service guy was sent out to test the signal strength on the lines. Come to find out the signal was weak and this was causing all my problems. They "boosted" the signal and I have had pretty good service ever since (wonder if this could be your problem). Since then, the only real problem has been email issues which usually last less than a day and have somewhat tapered off.
kombolcha
the cable has to be good.. he installer replaced the entire 100+ foot of cable that goes from my house to the cable box and there's this little "switch" in there that has controls for 8 houses and he replaced that aswell. i don't have any problems with their email service though.. since day one (first time i went online) i have never enjoyed the connections.. 56, disconnects constantly.. satellite, not even going to talk about that.. cable, i just talked about it. [Rant]also.. having an adelphia person come to my house to fix something? HA!! they can't even get my address right.. correct address is deerfield PLACE, but adelphia has me under DRIVE.. deerfield drive is not even considered a rode.. it only connects two parallel residential streets  so when i called to check availability of cable.. they said no cable is not available at your house number in deerfield pl.. but if i gave them the house number of my next door neighbor @ deerfield pl.. EUREKA!! they've found it... but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! even though i'm his next door neighbor (some 10 feet away) i'm supposedly on drive about half a mile away.. sure the other houses are just for pretend. Zero1
Well, i had this same problem with my broadband company when i got it, out of the first 6 months only about 3 of them it actually worked. The thing is, you're probably not the only one, so there will be hundreds of other people calling them up also. I was waiting on the godamn support line all day with the annoying music going just to get through to a guy that told me that they did not know what was going on either. However, since that time its been fine, so it might be better to wait a bit Find out if your ISP has a status page (like this one) where you can keep an eye on them ;)
kombolcha
na i don't think adelphia has one.. they don't even have a status page for web space users.. best i can do is ad is hit counter :/
