Using Memes can be dangerous

They pretty much have to do that. Due to COPPA, they can be held liable for ignoring a post like this if the guy was in fact 12 (or younger). The consequences are pretty heavy.

All this guy has to do is prove his real age and he'll be fine.

This is EA we are talking about. No one is fine.

Whatever you say, buddy. I'm no fan of EA, but you simply can't fault them for this.

EA's content filtering system has already proven to provide false positives that lead to a ban from the game. Whatever you do, do not seek support by posting on their forums. You risk to lose far more than you can gain.

Rock Paper Shotgun's John Walker is investigating EA's habit of banning customers from playing their own games. All it seems to take is a naughty word on their official forums. The bans prevent even single-player use of games, and EA does not give refunds.

What does any of that have to do with the current topic's issue? The law requires the response EA gave to the poster asserting that he was 12. Finding random EA screw ups (or whatever they are I didn't read them all) is of no value to the thread in any manner.

Yes it does. I was showing that EA generally does not go out of its way to fix problems. EA support sucks and there has been more than countless issues with them regarding things like this and most of the time they just don't care unfortunately.

So PM those mods and tell them that you are not 12. Let's hope that they do unban you, but if they don't I won't be surprised.

Meh. The user shouldn't have made the comment if it wasn't true. Serves the user right in my honest opinion.

No sense of humour and disconnection from common Internet memes are sings of poor service for a multiplayer software title.

Serves him well I say. Good job by the moderators there.

But there's no "issue" here. The mods just did what they had to do. What you bring up has no connection to the topic, because the topic has nothing to do with some fault in EA's customer service in general, because EA's customer service is not at fault here.

There is no "sense of humor" in the law.

Memes are really stupid to keep track of anyways. I think it would be silly for them to search to see if it is a meme or not. I can see something silly like a picture doing the job but not typing out "im 12 and what is this".

Except most or more likely all the "heavy handed" mods images in TOR are faked, and people get warned for posting them as misinformation.

Except this one has been confirmed:

Its pretty pathetic that he cant even challenge the ban. This is why i like to stick to steam, ive had positive results with their customer service. EA/Origin are pure evil, not only is their ToS basically allowing origin to be worse than your general spyware, but their support staff are are pathetically trained and cant handle off standard situations.

So ? he did break the rules, Meme or not. the guy who yells bomb at the airport also gets treated like a bomber even if he's not.

also anyone with a little skill could fake up that video by using some routing and such on their network. At any rate I'm sure it may be real and that if he's not 12 he's already unbanned if he bothered to contact the CS.
