Sony is discontinuing some payment options for PS3 and Vita games
by Usman Khan Lodhi
Sony has decided to discontinue credit card and Paypal payment for its PS3 and PS Vita consoles later this month, according to Kotaku. The announcement on the firm blog states that the aforementioned forms of payment won't be accepted for its older consoles from October 27 onwards.
Those still wanting to purchase games on these consoles will need to visit a secondary location and buy a physical gift card, which can then be used to buy the games. There's another more complex way, which involves using the wallet system to add funds to Sony's website or adding funds to your PS4 or PS5. This money can then be spent on the PS3 or Vita.
Sony didn't explain the reason for doing so in a notice to customers, though it's quite apparent. The PS3 was released 15 years ago, and PS Vita arrived in 2011. The latter didn't quite live up to Sony's expectations and the firm didn't invest much to support it. For obvious reasons, Sony wants gamers to move on to a PS4 or PS5, but this news would not be appreciated by gamers hanging on to older consoles to play classic games.

Now that we're getting Windows 11 and things are starting to change up more than the past few years with Windows 10, I un-pinned the old Windows 10 thread and started this one.
With the leaked build and the event coming on the 24th things are getting interesting once more.

Sony reverses PlayStation 3 and Vita store closure decision
by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe
In April, Sony revealed that its PlayStation 3, Portable, and Vita digital stores will soon become inaccessible, as the PlayStation Store will shut down across these platforms later this summer. However, after much criticism from the community, the decision has now been rolled back, though not entirely.
In a new announcement, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO and president Jim Ryan plainly said the company had originally "made the wrong decision". The PlayStation Store will continue to be available across the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita devices, however, the PlayStation Portable's digital store will close as previously planned on July 2.
Regarding how the company came to the original decision, Ryan said the following:
Sony's quick turnaround after vigorous community feedback is a similar move to what Microsoft pulled in January, where the company had to backpedal heavily on the Xbox Live Gold price doubling measures after facing a tremendous community backlash of its own.
"We see now that many of you are incredibly passionate about being able to continue purchasing classic games on PS3 and PS Vita for the foreseeable future, so I’m glad we were able to find a solution to continue operations," Ryan added regarding what had changed Sony's mind.
