My son put a password on his windows 7 computer and forget what it was.. is there a way to remove it. I used to have a boot disk that would remove a windows xp administrator password. Is there one for windows 7 or are we screwed. all of his home work is on it and he needs it for school.. Please help.
Detection
The same one you used for XP should work for 7 Alternativey you can try booting in safemode and see if the administrator account appears, log in to that if its not locked and remove his password from there. Google for "Remove Windows 7 pasword boot disk" there are a few out there that work fine I belive Hiren's Boot CD is warez free now ? I use that for this job

Gerowen
Microsoft has discontinued ERD Commander, but I've got a copy I bought years ago and it still works with Windows 7. If you or any of your friends have a copy, give it a try.
AOXOMOXOA
I dont know man. I have been trying to do it all night. I have copied the hdd from sata to ide because i thought it wasnt seeing the sata drive. but it still wont work. when it comes up and asks for the directory that the regestry is in it just displays winnt/system32/config. and it wont let me change it. the directory is c:\windows\system32.. blah blah with back slash not front slash. anyways it wont give me any other option. I have the stand alone boot cd winnt password recover and numerous copies of hirens boot cd
+BudMan MVC Posted February 2, 2012 MVC Share Posted February 2, 2012 So his account was the only account on the machine? Just log in with any admin account and you can reset his password. Just google there are plenty of free tools that will reset a windows 7 password for you. Your other option -- just connect the disk to any other PC and grab the files off for him -- worse case is you have to take ownership and then reset ntfs perm, take like 2 seconds. Then reinstall if you want.
