Lol! That sure is a copy. ;)

But the MS's one is still better. It's modern, and has glass gates, compared to Apple's iron gates. :D

What if malware started throwing rocks?

Now where have I heard the name Gatekeeper before....

Ah yes, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113957/plotsummary, the security program with a backdoor that lets a certain group of hackers into whichever system uses it.

With one gate wide open! Way to go Apple. Oh wait, you don't need that much protection, I guess.

The open gate is to allow the programs you want to run to come in...but they have to go through security first :p

or if a "known" program starts misbehaving, they can drop the half-open gate on it :p

the sad part is the icon looks VERY close to the Microsoft one and yet it does not fit with the Apple theme of icons. almost as if it was planned to make it look that way.

Apple forgot the flag. Might as well not half-ass the clone.

Flag must raise when there is virus detected or something malicious

:(. Come on! The fact of the matter is the two icons look extremely similar and it wouldn't be such a big deal if they weren't also associated with products that have similar functionality. Come on Apple!

Rocks would go through the gaps in Apple's portcullis. Microsoft's glass is probably the bulletproof/shatter resistant kind.

Actually, in design terms, Apple's is more modes. Flatter colour, the use of sharper, straighter lines etc. Microsoft's one is about 4 or 5 years out of design date. But either way, I suspect this is not intentional, but it sure does look like a rip :D I guess the one gate open and one closed is to represent Open for some apps and closed for others. Or it was just to give it a little asymmetry. God knows. Also ... who cares? :D
