setup the sync to run every 15 min if you want in the task scheduler.

you happen to know if you set it up to auto run that it runs int he background or does the app pop up and run?

There's a GUI for snapraid.

Also, it checks for data integrity (bitrot detection), not sure whethere Flexraid does this.

Here's the GUI:

you can run validate if your worried about datarot/bitrot

http://wiki.flexraid.com/2011/08/28/maintaining-your-snapshot-raid/

The Validate task does change detection, along with datarot (silent data corruption) detection through data checksum validation. It is actually similar to the Quick Validation in its outputs, but where the Quick Validation simply does a scan based on file time stamps, Validation will scan your files content.

Nope, I don't. I just wanted to throw in my discovery from reading their page.

Cool, is there any data rot detection for unraided disks?

I'm running a Mac so obviously I use HFS+...

Not very interested in 3rd party software RAIDs, but I'd like the benefit of datarot detection...

(Mostly for peace of mind and knowing when to restore from Time Machine/fix the file (if possible)! (Y) )
